Moto 360 already listed as “sold out”

September 8, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

Motorola has finally released Moto 360 in three different outlets this morning.  Moto 360 was highly anticipated smart watch after the release of Google’s Android wear last year.

Analysts considered it as the most anticipated smartwatch product of Motorola up till now.  Unfortunately, a few hours after its release the company announced that they have run out of stock.  However people can still sign up on Motorola’s site to be informed when it is back. Even Best Buy has already kept it in the category of sold out. Moreover, the store has declared that all of its stores would have the watch till the 14th of September.
The reason behind the shortage is the appealing appearance and other distinct features of this smart watch. Some of the features are its 1.56 inch display, wireless charging and dust and water resistant.

Earlier, it was being said that the Best buy would certainly have the device in stock, but all of them are currently out of stock.

Shortly after few minutes of Best Buy, Google play has unofficially listed it as out of inventory without any date of arrival of next stock. It is not yet confirmed whether Motorola is facing a huge success or a launch failure for their first ever Android smart watch.

Sadly, several EBay sellers are taking an advantage of the shortage of Moto 360 and selling the device at a high cost of $400- $500. No matter how crazily people want to get hold of this device but this price is still unacceptable.

Presently, Motorola has unleashed Moto 360 in two colors that are black and white. The watch comes in an aluminum design along with three different colors of straps.
Motorola also announced that it is planning to put this watch on sale in future at a price of $299. The company specially designed it more like a jewelry piece than a smart watch.

The Moto 360 runs on an Android 4.3 and immediately sync to share notifications, emails, weather alerts. The most interesting this is that this smart watch allow user to answer calls through your voice.

Last year, Google proclaimed that it will update all the features related to Moto 360 but it seems like they are still waiting to get hold of this new smart watch.

People are even running to Local Best buy stores in order to get the watch but it is not also unavailable there.

iPhone 6 Vs Galaxy Note 4

September 7, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

Apple is gearing up to unveil iPhone 6 and iWatch in the month of September. The company promised that this iPhone will be completely different from all the previous one. Rumors and leaked images related to iPhone 6 are verifying this news, therefore people are eagerly waiting for it.

On the other hand, Samsung is all set to release a new smart phone Galaxy Note 4 in October 2014.  Samsung started this Android based  high-end smart phone Galaxy Note series three years back in IFA Berlin. The analysts criticized it since it  was an extremely large phone of that time with a 5.3 inch display screen. . Subsequently, every year Samsung added a new smartphone in the line of Galaxy Note.

However, people who are planning to purchase a new phone are quite perplexed whether to buy iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4. As per the rumors, the two smart phones are set to release this fall and both would be the successors of earlier phones.

Recently, Samsung has confirmed the rumors and officially  declared the month of its arrival. The Galaxy Note 4 will come  with various high powered specification such as a 5.7 inch Quad HD display, speedy quad core processor, 16Mp camera and much more. People begin to compare Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 soon after Samsung has verified its features.

Nevertheless,  analysts have named iPhone 6 as “Rumor iPhone” because Apple has not yet disclosed specification of iPhone 6.

Display size:

There is a stream of rumors associated with iPhone 6 and some of them stated that Apple will launch it with two new sizes a 4.7 inch model and a 5.5 inch model. Earlier the rumors were that only one of the two models will occur with a sapphire screen due to the cost of sapphire glass.  However, the latest assumptions are that both models will support sapphire screen. Apple also utilized sapphire in the iPhone 5s in order to cover the home botton and rear facing camera.

In contrast Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes in only one size. The device  is equipped with a AMOLED 5.7 inch display  with a quad HD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440.

Software:

Samsung is planning to offer Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with Samsung’s TouchWiz Ul. The phone will provide a multi-window option, for instance, if you  want to check calenders while watching a video you can open two windows side by side. However, the company has improved the S Pen experience both in Hardware and software. It has doubled the pen pressure sensitivity, which will permit the pen to detect when you are drawing and writing an angle. Whereas, Apple usually provides  software which can live to a long time period of three years. Apple hardware will come with iOS 8 which relatively better than the usual Android software.

Carriers:

Samsung has restricted Galaxy Note 4 to chief five carriers of the Unite States. These five carriers are AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon.  Undoubtedly, these carriers are not enough for a flagship smart phone. Generally, smartphone comes with a large number of pre-paid and regional carriers.

Rumors are that Apple iPhone will come with Sprint and several other U.S carriers such as C SpireWireless, Bluegrass Wireless. Though the news is still not confirmed, but people are expecting Apple to  launch iPhone 6 with numerous carriers.

Today, Motorola will not only release the Moto X+1 smartphone but also another budget-friendly smartphone, the Moto G2 along with the Moto 360 smartwatch. Apple is calling the newest iOS 8 update as the ‘the biggest iOS release ever.’ Apple has already released the Gold Master edition of iOS which is the final beta edition before and now the time has come for the releasing the final edition for the public.
[ps_prices]
The appearance of the iOS 8 is not different than that of iOS 7. However, it is packed with plenty of new features and improvements. You can know about the best features of iOS 8 through this link.

List of iOS 8 Supported Devices

iOS 8 is not available for all the existing iDevices. If you own any of the following devices, such as iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini with Retina Display and iPod Touch 5G.

If you are using any of the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod that is not listed here, your device will not receive the new iOS 8 upgrade.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that were announced on Sept 9 and are poised to release on Sept 19 are going to come out preloaded with the iOS 8. Even though iPhone 6 models are shipped with the new iOS 8, owners with older iPhones are going to receive the iOS 8 earlier on Sept 17.

iOS 8 Release Time

The iOS 8 release date is fast approaching and eager fans are waiting for the update to be made available by Apple. Well, Apple has not revealed the precise iOS 8 release time but going by the time pattern that Apple has stuck for the previous iOS 8 versions, it is quite evident that iOS 8 will become available for download at 10AM Pacifict Time in the US.

The approximate iOS 8 release time for other areas of US include 11AM MST, 12PM CST and 1PM EST. For those living in the European countries, the iOS 8 update can be accessed at 5PM GMT, 6PM BST, 7PM CET and 8PM EET.

For people living in the eastern countries like Hong Kong China, Korea and Japan, the approximate release times are 1AM, 1AM, 2AM and 2AM, respectively on Sept 19.

Last Day to Access Jailbroken iOS 7.1.2

As we all know very well, jailbreaking is a process that removes limitations of the operating system which gives you access to new and hidden features. The iOS 8 which is soon going to release is not jailbrokenyet. It would be take at least couple of weeks to jailbreak the iOS 8.

Currently, the most recent edition of iOS is the iOS 7.1.2 version. It has been jailbroken. So, if you are going to update your iDevice to iOS 8, you won’t have access to jailbroken features. Hence, today is your only day to jailbreak your iOS 7.1.2 running iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Once the iOS 8 gets released, the iOS 7.1.2 will no longer be available for signing in. It means users without the iOS 7.1.2 update will be stuck on the existing firmware version and they will have no other option but to update to iOS 8.

Installation Instructions for iPhone, iPad and iPod

1. Be Ready With Your Apple ID

Owners for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch are already aware of their Apple ID. When you are going to run the iOS 8 for the first time, you will be required to sign in with your username and password.

Apple ID is also necessary when you want to connect your iDevice to iTunes to install iOS 8 or if you want to install iOS 8 through OTA.

2. Power Up Your Device

The iOS 8 update can take some time to finish. If your device is low on battery, it may die before the installation finishes. If your battery expires during installation, your device can run into problems or may roll back to older version that was running on your device.

Hence, you need to fully charge the battery before you access the update. You can keep your device connected to the wall socket while the installation process is in progress.

3. Update Your Apps

You will have to update your apps after you install the iOS 8 update. However, we recommend updating your apps before you install the iOS 8. There is a possibility that some of the apps present on your device may behave weirdly after the update. Hence, it would be worthwhile to update the most frequently used apps before you go for the iOS 8 update.

4. Backup Your Device

You are required to download and run the latest version of iTunes on your device. Taking a backup is quite important because in case the update fails midway, you will be able to restore your handset through the backup you carried out.

To back up your device, you can go to Settings > iCloud> Backup & Storage > Backup Now.

5. Update iTunes

You are required to download and run the latest version of iTunes on your device. To update to the latest edition of iTunes on a Windows PC, you need to launch iTunes and then go to Help > Check for Updates.

To get the most recent version of iTunes for Mac, you need to open iTunes and then go to iTunes > Check for Updates.

6. Free up Storage Space

The older iOS 7 required users to have a free storage space of 700MB on their device. For iOS 8, we recommend you to have at least 1GB free space. The installation won’t begin if you do not have sufficient storage space on your device.

To see what’s consuming your storage space, you can go to Settings > General > Usage. The device will take few seconds to you show you what’s eating up your storage space. You can then delete the unwanted items from your device.

7. Install iOS 7.1.2

As we mentioned before, ideally your handset should be running on iOS 7.1.2 to receive the iOS 8 update. Hence, you need to go to Settings > General > Software Update and see if the iOS 7.1.2 update is available for you. If it is there, you should get it installed. If it is not there, most probably you are running on the most recent edition of iOS on your device.

8. Choose Your Installation Option

Last year, when eager iDevice users tried to access the iOS 7 download, they encountered an error message. The reason the error message popped up was millions of people were trying to access the download at the same time from Apple’s servers.

This time around too, millions of people are going to access the iOS 8 download simultaneously as it is made available by Apple. There are two installation options available: OTA (over-the-air) method and iTunes method.

How to Install iOS 8 on iPhone

You can either choose to install the iOS 8 through OTA or iTunes. The iPhones older than iPhone 4S will not support iOS 8 update.

OTA Method and iTunes Method

The OTA method is allows you to wirelessly download the iOS 8 update. This option is recommended for those users who can access the update through Wi-Fi or through unlimited data plan.

On your iPhone, you need to go to Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 8 update if available for you will be shown to you. Since millions of people will be downloading simultaneously, you may experience longer download times.

For the iTunes method, you need to establish connection between your iPhone and Mac or Windows PC using the USB cable and then launch the iTunes software.

Your iPhone will be shown on your iTunes. After clicking on your device, you can click on ‘Check for Updates.’ You will then see the download option which clicks on start the installation.

OTA Method and iTunes Method

Just like the procedure goes iPhones, the same procedure applies for installing iOS 8 on iPads. You can either choose to install through OTA or iTunes.

OTA requires you to check for update through Settings > General > Software Update on your iPad. The iTunes method requires checking for iOS 8 update by establishing connection between your iPad and iPad Mini with your Mac or Windows PC using a USB cable.

How to Install iOS 8 on Your iPod Touch

Except for the 5th generation iPod Touch, none of the older iPod Touch models will support the iOS 8 update.

OTA Method and iTunes Method

Even iPod Touch users can also check for the update through OTA by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

The iTunes method for iPod Touch requires you to connect your device to your PC through USB cable and check for iOS update.

Global Average – Rise in Sea Level

September 2, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

The Scientists explained in detail that the melting of the Antarctic ice sheets and contraction of ice shelves has contributed in an excess of nearly 350 Gigatons of fresh water in the surrounding oceans. This led to a drop in the salinity of the surrounding oceans, which has been supported by ship based study of water.

Craig Rye, main author of the research stated that generally salt water is thicker as compared to the fresh water. Therefore, the areas where a surplus of fresh water has accumulated researchers expected a rise in sea level.

The study is printed in the Journal Nature Geoscience.

Moreover, the researchers also carried out a computer simulation of the impact melting glaciers have on the Antarctic Ocean.

The outcome of the simulation thoroughly mirrored the real world picture portrayed by the satellite data.

The relation between air, sea and ice in these seas is essential for the stability of the Antarctic ice sheet. It also affects other environmental developments like the generation of Antarctic bottom water. The Antartic bottom water that cools down and ventilates most of the global ocean abyss.

The work was executed with a partnership of  researchers of the National Oceanography Center with the British Antarctic Survey.

Shortage of Food Killing Whales in Puget Sound

September 1, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

The killer whale population continues to decline as the two new deaths were reported this year in Punget Sound.

According to the survey by the Center for Whale Research the number of whales in J,K and L pods have reduced to 78. The authorities have not recorded this level since 1985. The report brings out an extremely astonishing thing that the whales are breaking their pods which is their significant social group.

Ken Balcomb  of the research center has been examining the Puget Sound orcas since 1976. Every year Balcomb accumulates a census of the population and present it to the federal government.

Previously, in the summer season all three pods of orcas have come  together in the San Juan Islands.  In these months whales usually socialize in the much larger groups. However, the pods begin to split into smaller groups., staying together now and them.

Furthermore, Balcomb stated that researchers have observed a peculiar association pattern in two members of a pod with two members of the other pods. It exhibits that they frequently stay miles apart without any contact with their own group. Researchers are unable to give names to the pods since they are no longer connected with each other in the similar pattern.

The offspring of the killer whales likely to live with their mother for the entire life.

Balcomb proposed that the chief reason behind this population decline is shortage of food for the killer whale. The killer whales usually prey on Chinook salmon when they cross the San Juan Islands on their way back to Canda’s Fraser river. They also eat other species of salmon and fish.

Human trial of Ebola vaccine will begin next week

August 31, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

The GlaxoSmithkline has fast-tracked an experimental Ebola vaccine. The firm intended to manufacture a stockpile of nearly 10,000 doses for emergency usage.

The experts struggled hard to develop a drug that can help to curb the worst outbreak of Ebola disease. The disease has almost killed 1,500 people in West Africa. An International group provided funds for the research work related to Ebola disease.

United National Institutes of Health (NIH) co-developed this vaccine with GSK.  Foremost, the experts will give this vaccine to healthy volunteer of Britain and United States from the month of September. Afterwards, the program will be stretched out to other countries such as the Gambia and Mali.

The GlaxoSmith said on Thursday that stage 1 experiment would begin soon after the approval of ethical and regulatory.

Currently, the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease is working on an extensive program of medical trials. These trials comprise of test of a GSK version which may help in struggling with the second type of Ebola.

Moreover, U.S researchers plan a human test of vaccine that is discovered by the scientist of  Canadian government.

Experts will uncover whether this vaccine is safe or trigger an  immune response through the healthy volunteers of experiment.

The chief goal of researchers is to accomplish this task till the end of year 2014.
