On Wednesday, James Goolsby, a 28-year-old restaurant manager, and Leanna Robitaille, his girlfriend, will stand before the magistrates. Goolsby and his girlfriend, who’s a manager at the same restaurant as the accused will have to answer for the murder of Norris Jackson, an East Hartford resident and Bonchon employee.
Restaurant Manager Told His Father That His Co-Worker Was Disrespectful
According to court documents, the shooting occurred on Saturday, at around 11:30 p.m. in the Bonchon restaurant. Norris Jackson, 36, allegedly had an argument with Goolsby about how the business should be run.
The authorities determined that Jackson blamed Goolsby and Robitaille for the restaurant’s negative Yelp reviews. At one point during the argument, Goolsby took out his handgun and shot Jackson four times from close range.
Robitaille was in the restaurant’s kitchen when the restaurant manager shot Jackson. Right after the shooting, the couple fled to the man’s step-father. Goolsby confessed in front of his step-father that he shot a co-worker. When the man asked him why the restaurant manager said that Jackson was rude and disrespectful toward his girlfriend.
The man tried to persuade his step-son to turn himself in but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Jackson was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He was placed on full life support but passed away later that day.
On Monday, Robitaille turned herself into the Hartford police. Her boyfriend was taken into custody the following day.
Jackson is survived by two wonderful children. His family decided on donating the man’s organs. Pending the outcome of the couple’s trial, the Buckland Hills restaurant will remain closed.
Goolsby has been charged with first-degree murder, while his girlfriend with hindering prosecution. The authorities are still trying to determine why the restaurant manager shot his co-worker.
