September 1, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Numerous speculations surfaced related to the details of Android L release in the past few months. Google officially declared the launch of Android L in June, but people are still looking forward to the details. The company will probably release Android L or Android 4.5 or 5.0 until October or November.

Google surprised several customers through the revelation of the next version of Android before its release. Since it was a trend of Google to keep each and every single detail furtive till the proclamation and the launch of the new version.

However, Google has already offered Android L to some of the users in order to test the performance.

Although the release date of Android L is not yet confirmed, but a few details and features have emerged. Today, it is announced that it would be the safest version of Android. It will mark a new history in the mobile operating systems through the exciting new features and animations.

Android L will offer loads of bright colors, neat animation effects, designs and much more. Google had already flaunted some of these features whereas a sample of Android L beta is present below.

People discovered some of the new features of Android L when it was introduced. Nevertheless, they are still eagerly waiting for the release date of Android L.

A very famous Android developer stated that Google will unveil Android L along with the new HTC Nexus 9 tablets on the 16th of October. However, it is merely the announcement date and the new Android version will release sometime later.

There is not yet a single rumor associated with the release date of Android L. The previous year, Google Nexus 5 and Android Kitkat 4.4.4 touched the markets after the two weeks of its release. Therefore, it is expected that the company will follow the similar tradition this year as well. Consequently, we can say that a brand new version of Android and two new Nexus devices could arrive till the time of Halloween.

In August, Google verified that numerous user accounts would come in the Android stock.  Take it as a guest mode on computers, or a child mode, which Samsung, Amazon and other manufacturers have presented.  Tablets began to come as multi-user account after the release of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but this time the company will offer these features in the smartphones. It will let parent arrange separate accounts for kids, business, personal information and much more.

Google also announced one chief feature of Android L that is enabling of default. The company will encrypt most of the user data on all Android L devices out of the box. Although this feature has been presented for many years, but it never allowed default.

Recently, various other companies have announced that they will constrict down the availability of user’s information and safeguard their privacy. As per the reports of Washington post Android L will provide full disk encryption by default.

“For over three years Android has offered encryption, and keys are not stored off of the device, so they cannot be shared with law enforcement. As part of our next Android release, encryption will be enabled by default out of the box, so you won’t even have to think about turning it on.” – Google spokeswoman Niki Christoff

This full-disk encryption will definitely make it difficult for hackers to access our Android devices. Moreover, Google is really making some additional attempts to protect the privacy of the users’ data and other stuff.

In the end, it is not yet confirmed that whether the company intends to release Android L on 16 of October or not. People still have to keep their fingers crossed. Though, it is certain that whenever the device will be launched, it will come with lots of new features, beautiful interfaces, long lasting battery and improved security.

Marta, the Passenger Pigeon Death Anniversary: 100 Years of Extinction

September 1, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Today is the day of ‘Marta’, the last Passenger Pigeon, which died 100 years ago on September 1 when it was just 29-year-old.

Over a century ago, these unique variety of birds offered enticing views to the nature lovers as they flocked together in millions in the sky over the United States and Canada and now they have reduced to none, thanks to the excessive human intervention.

Almost all of us were not even born to enjoy their mesmerizing beauty. But some of the historians and environmentalists who were fortunate enough to capture their beauty with their naked eyes just call them a real natural beauty.

Doug Gross, supervisor of the Endangered and Nongame Birds Section of Pennsylvania Game Commission, said that there was a time when the passenger pigeon was most abundant bird in North America. The process of its extinction began in 1800s due to the unregulated subsistence and market hunting.

Passenger pigeons were killed in such large numbers that the train cars were filled with their carcasses. The hunters not even spared their youngsters called squabs.

The human intervention was so high that whenever a nesting colony was located, the squabs were captured into barrels to be served as delicacy across the cities.

Famous writer and environmentalist Mark Avery, in his book ‘A Message from Martha: The Extinction of the Passenger Pigeon and Its Relevance Today’ said, “We lost passenger pigeon and much of the rest of North America’s wildlife through ignorance, but we can’t use that excuse today and we still plunder the world’s natural beauty. Now we can see, clearly, what we are doing.”

According to Avery, the major contributor to the extinction of these birds was deforestation or clearing of forests, construction of rail road, telegraph service, better firearms and mass hunting.

Environmentalists say the time has arrived when we should learn from our mistakes and wake up to the message of Martha to save the nature and its beauty.

Maps for Samsung’s Tizen-Based Handsets: Nokia’s Latest Offering

September 1, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

One of the leading names in the Telecom gear market, ‘Nokia OYJ’ has joined hands with Samsung Electronics to offer its latest hi-tech services in digital maps and locations to one of the biggest Korean electronics companies, the Tizen-powered smart devices. Moreover, the ‘HERE’ corporation,  a location-based services arm of the company will also provide solutions for the Gear S, Samsung’s new Smart Watch product.

The officials at Nokia confirmed that HERE has made an association with Samsung in order to bring its digital maps and location services to Samsung’s latest Tizen-powered smart devices such as the Gear S. The Gear S features a new and reformed walk navigator by HERE which is an application that allows users to experience turn-by-turn public transit routing with advanced navigation features.

Tizen, on the other hand, is an adaptable and open ended operating system which was launched in competition to the contemporary Android and iOS system software.

Most of Samsung’s latest smartphones utilize android operating system, which is also one of the popular OS in mobile phones today. A few years back, Samsung sets used ‘Bada’ software which couldn’t meet a favorable reception by the general public. This is probably one of the main reasons why Samsung is focusing on Tizen which also happens to have a strong backing by the Intel Corporation.

Samsung is now planning to introduce its first Tizen-powered smartphone at the end of this year. This is a step taken to decrease the reliance and dependency on Google’s highly popular Android operating system. Being the world’s leading smartphone developer, Samsung is ready to launch its new Tizen-supported ‘Samsung Z’ at the end of this year throughout the world.

Hacker Group “Lizard Squad” Targeted Twitch

August 28, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Lizard Squad is a hacking group which tweet about Sony executive’s flight on Sunday. The group is yet free and continue its attempts on other gaming services.
Microsoft Xbox live, Riot Games league of Legends and Blizzard’s Battle.net were the gaming services which Lizard Squad targeted soon after Sony.

Yesterday, Hackers attacked Twitch a live streaming game website. The website hosts thousands of gamers who can livecast their games for an audience of million people. Amazon has offered it a price of $1 billion after seeing its rapid progress.

The attackers compel the users of Twitch to write “Lizard Squad”on their forehead and tweet a picture to them. The answer is rather simple that even FBI needs time. The fearlessness of group shows that they are situated anywhere outside the United States and Iraq since they have already announced that they do not belong to Iraq.

Therefore, The government of the United States needs to coordinate with other countries in order to find more information regarding those hackers. It would certainly take a lot more time as compared to the previous hackers which were present in their own State.

Lizard Squad is both amusing and irritating for the community of gamers. Undoubtedly, the majority of the people feel annoyed by this group, but some of them takes advantage of the name of this group.

Numerous Methane Plumes Found on Sea Floor

August 25, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

An international team of scientist has uncovered Hundreds of sea-floor seeps between North Carolina and Massachusetts. Scientists believe that they comprise methane, which is responsible for warming the planets’s gas. According to a rough estimate 90 tonnes of the planet gas are produced by these sea-floor seeps.

The work is published in Sunday’s issue of Nature Geoscience. This revelation could help a lot in the prognosis of the weather, but it has some significant infers for Earth’s climate.

Most of the global warming science is primarily based on the study of carbon dioxide. It is the chief cause behind the rise of the global temperature, which lead to climate commotion. It  is the biggest contributor since it adds a large number of gas to the atmosphere every year.

On the other hand, methane is the second greenhouse gas, which is on the target of climate scientists. Methane is far better than carbon dioxide in terms of trapping the heat of  our atmosphere. In 20 years of time, methane traps almost 85 times more heat as compared to the carbon dioxide.

Undoubtedly, the ratio decreased in 100 year time period but still methane is 20 times more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Presently, methane is small contributor, but the probabilities are that  it can be transformed into a big in some years.

According to a report of US EPA, 60 percent of methane comes from human behavior such as industry, agriculture and garbage. Scientist found out large deposit of methane gas in the shape of slushy frozen on the sea of Arctic ocean.

Researchers formed cybernetic moth capable of being controlled remotely

August 21, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

North Caroline University (NCSU) researchers formed a cybernetic moth through the implantation of electrodes in the creature. Experts inserted these electrodes at the their initial stage of the life cycle. These electrodes provide insight regarding the procedure through which the creature flies. The  Electrodes also permit the scientist to manage the flight of this moth.

Dr. Alper Bozhurt, a researcher of this experiment created a technique for the implantation of electrodes at the moth’s pupal phase. In this stage moth is still going through the process of development and transforming it from a caterpillar into a moth.

The month was linked to a platform that is balanced in the air with the help of electromagnets. These electromagnets collect data from the electrodes which is composed of electromyographic signals. The chief function of electromyographic signals is to control the muscles that are associated with the trajectory.

As stated by Dr. Bozkurt the this close examination of the electromyographic signals and the entire process of moth’s flying provided a sounder understanding of moths maneuver. The chief purpose of this experiment is to utilize the moth in the search and rescue operation in future. In order to achieve this aim scientist will have to devise a special sensor for moth for a proper aerial sensor network. This sensor network would be extremely helpful in any calamity.
