The Apple Watch Hermes Collection is Now Available

October 6, 2015 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

The Apple Watch Hermes Collection is Now Available

The Apple Watch Hermes collection is now available and it ranges from $1,100 to $1,500 – it comes with Hermes-infused colors, bands and clock faces.

Apple’s new Watch collection was announced in September during the big iPhone 6s event. The Apple Watch Hermes collection is now available in select Apple and Hermes stores. Locations include Los Angeles, Toronto, Miami, New York, San Francisco and several other cities in Asia and Europe.

Depending on the style of the band and how big you want it to be, the Hermes collection will vary in price. The special French-designed Watch comes in three completely different styles and five exquisite colours – this leads to ten different looks to choose from.

Apple’s new collection will showcase three new leather band designs. Cuff, who is the bulkier of the bunch is inspired by equestrian fixtures, notes Apple. Single Tour follows the same equestrian style and Apple says that the buckle resembles the one found on the straps of a horse’s girth. The last design is the Double Tour, which is exactly what you’re thinking of – you can wrap the band two times around your wrist.

Size really matters when it comes to Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch Hermes Collection features the Double Tour Model

The Double Tour Model

Take the 38mm Double Tour – it comes in four colours such as Brown – Fauve, Grey – Etain, Light Brown – Capucine and Blue – Bleu Jean.

The Apple Watch Hermes Collection showcases the Single Tour model.

The 38mm Hermes-designed Single Tour can be bought in Fauve, Capucine, Black – Noir, while the bigger 42mm model of Single Tour is only available in Fauve and Noir.

The Apple Watch Hermes Collection showcases the bulkiest model, called The Cuff.

The last one of the bunch, and the bulkiest one too, is The Cuff. It’s available only in 42mm sizes with a Brown strap. It’s also the most expensive Hermes-Apple Watch model you can buy – it costs $1,500.

According to sources close to Apple and Hermes, their alliance has started way before Apple announced their first Watch iteration. All of the smartwatches included in the Apple Watch Hermes Collection have special new clock faces designed by the luxury brand, as well as their logo stapled on the back.

Worth noting is that this is the first time Apple has allowed so much material branding from an outsider on one of their products. We kinda figured that 2015 and 2016 will be the cornerstone for Apple, but we didn’t thought that they are keen on redesigning themselves so fast.

In all fairness, the Hermes branding is done in traditional Apple style – keeping everything simple and elegant.

Target will be selling the Apple Watch starting with the 25th of October, but it won’t have the new Hermes collection in store. At least, not for now.

Hermes brings more elegance and a certain style to Apple’s smartwatch don’t you think?

Pebble Time Steel – Elegance Wrapped Around Your Wrist

August 9, 2015 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

New Smartwatch - Pebble Time Steel Edition

The Pebble Time was already a major hit in US, and European markets, but it seems this isn’t enough for the record-breaking company – their Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is the most funded project to date. So where to now?

The Pebble Time Steel Edition is like elegance wrapped around your wrist. No matter what you’re wearing, the Time will make sure you’re emitting that simple, and respectable vibe.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room first – the Apple Watch. Can Pebble Time compete with Apple’s wearable? Or is it doomed from the get-go? The huge amount of popularity it has garnered over the past couple of years makes the Pebble smart watch more than a worthy challenger.

It’s way cheaper than Apple’s device, about $249, and most important of all, it doesn’t scream Look At Me. It doesn’t have anything that will make others think you are wearing a smartwatch – and this is the exact thing that Pebble Time fans are looking for, as in not looking like a big show-off.

Pebble Time Steel Edition - Elegance and Simplicity Wrapped Around Your Wrist

Pebble Time VS. Pebble Time Steel

The Pebble Time Steel, like Pebble’s other smartwatch models, doesn’t have a touchscreen, and nor does it feature a heart sensor. It simply pushes notifications on your wrist, amongst other things. The thing is, any Pebble wearable can do this, but the Steel Time edition is the better looking of the bunch.

Stainless steel envelopes the watch’s mechanism, and leather straps latch onto you wrist making you look all grown-up, instead of a man-child wearing a toy-watch.

It has a 1.25-inch display, which is amplified tricking you into thinking that the watch’s display is way larger than previous models – which clearly isn’t.

But it’s not just a more design-polished smart watch. It actually does feel better on your hand, and using it is simple, intuitive, and downright fun. I don’t know if this is the Fata Morgana of the modern tech age, but making something look better, ends with it tricking the user into thinking it actually is better.

Pebble Time Steel Edition costs $249

But the over-sized bezel is a little bit off-putting, and it may seem like you’re wearing a 90s calculator, but that depends on what model you own. Also, the display gets easily scratched, and more worrying, it can get seriously dented if you don’t pay attention to your surroundings – those awful morning hangovers have received yet another reason for humanity to get off of its ass, and find a cure for, uhm, drinking I suppose.

Expect the Pebble Time Steel Edition to be delivered some time between six to eight weeks.

Moto 360 has an incredible price drop

April 14, 2015 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

Android Smart Watch

It seems like everyone is afraid of Apple’s new smart watch. Moto 360 has an incredible price drop – you can buy it for about $165!

Google’s device store puts the Moto 360 at $165 with a leather strap, and that’s $85 off from the original price of $250 – the wrist wear device is just several months old.

If you manage to run late to the party don’t worry because Amazon and Best Buy are also selling the Android Wear device, but at a higher price – $180.

It’s probably a hint that Motorola wants to clean out its current stock of smart watches to prepare for the sequel.

The Moto 360 was officially launched on September the 5th of 2014, and it was seen as the best Android Wear device at the time – although that isn’t saying much. It sports a beautiful design that is fully customizable, it’s not clunky on the wrist, and it even has wireless charging but that’s jut about it. It only comes in large size, and those of us who have petite arms will just look goofy trying to wear the device. The battery life is terrible – 10 to 12 hours and you need to recharge it.

It doesn’t have a ton of features, and you’ll mostly play with them in the first day or so before getting bored and completely forget about its functions. I mostly used it for notifications and time keeping – I used to give it voice commands, but after my first week I wouldn’t be bothered to do such thing.

Yes, the heart sensor and pedometer are a nice touch, but it’s novelty soon diminishes and you are just left with a normal watch that also pairs your phones notifications.

The Moto 360 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It doesn’t only protect it from scratches, but also if you somehow drop the watch, or bump into something, it won’t shatter into millions of small pieces.

For $165 is quite a bargain, and if you have that amount of cash just laying around, I recommend you go for it. It’s a new piece of technology and it’s cool as hell. You’ll be amongst the few who support this new pioneering gadget!
