Because a life of crime can sometimes be construed as a series of unfortunate events, we give you the case of two ‘professional’ shoplifter who got arrested after one of them walked drunk into the police station and asked for a ride home. His partner-in-crime was arrested after showing up to give his buddy a ride.
Shoplifters Were Wanted for Stealing Merchandise on Display, Authorities Declared
On Wednesday, the Delaware law enforcement officials arrested and charged with robbery 34-year-old Christopher McDowell and 48-year-old April J. Wright.
According to the authorities, the dynamic duo was wanted for theft following a grievance filed by a department store owner on the 22nd of February.
It would appear that both McDowell and Wright went inside the store with the intention of returning a defective product. While McDowell talked with a department store representative about a fake refund, Wright was checking the store for accessible merchandise.
After McDowell finished talking with the store’s staff member, Wright allegedly grabbed some of the merchandise put on display and went towards the exit. Apparently, neither the store’s staff nor the security agents were able to stop the woman from walking away with the unpaid merchandise.
The two of them decided to stay under the radar for a while, until Wednesday. According to a Delaware State Police spokesperson, on Wednesday night, McDowell, one of the shoplifters, simply walked inside the police headquarters and kept hollering about a ride home.
Conclusion
Of course, the authorities identified the man and took him into custody. The man was later released after posting his $1,000 bail and was allowed to call a friend or relative to come and pick him up. Fate has it that the person who came to the station for McDowell was none other than Wright.
The authorities arrested the woman and charged her with robbery. It’s not clear whether Wright posted bail or not.
