The National Park Service names the Albany’s Pine Bush a national landmark

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The Albany Pine Bush has been designated as a national natural landmark because of being an outstanding example of a globally rare ecosystem by the National Park Service. The region along the Thruway west of Albany joins 596 other sites across the country recognized as landmarks and is home to pitch pines and scrub oaks.

It is perhaps not surprising then, that such regions are great examples of unique and fascinating biological and geological phenomenon. Most interestingly, the Pine Bush provides support to more than 1300 species of plants, 156 species of birds, more than 30 species of mammals and 20 species of amphibians and reptiles. It is thus one of the world’s best examples of inland pine barren ecosystems. It also harbors the beautiful but sadly endangered Karner blue butterfly.

Britain Sets an Unrealistically Optimistic Target to Reduce Carbon Emissions

July 22, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Despite much opposition Britain has set itself a tough target. The government said it would aim to curb carbon emissions by 2027 to 50% of the 1990 levels. The target is quite optimistic and the advisers and politicians have opposed claiming that it is quite hard to meet.

Britain has also set binding targets for greenhouse gas emissions over four five year periods to 2027. They call them carbon budgets and they aim for cutting emissions by 80% from the 1990 levels by the middle of the century, quite optimistic indeed.

Ed Davey, secretary of state for energy and climate change said on Tuesday that retaining the budget at its existing level ensures certainty for investors by demonstrating the government’s commitment to their long term goal of curbing carbon emissions substantially.

The budget that will be covering the period from 2023 to 2027 has been a point of conflict among the politicians, some of who suggest a more reachable goal and a weaker emission cut target so that the economy doesn’t suffer as a result.

On the other hand advisers have suggested that curbing the goal down may undermine investor confidence in the type of technology that emits less carbon. The fourth carbon budget was set in 2011 but it was agreed that it would be considered for revision by 2014.zero carbon britain

However Davey says that any revision now would be “premature” especially because of the ongoing negotiations in the EU to agree to cut green house gases down by 40% by October 2030.
The Committee on Climate Change warned the Parliament last week that despite rigorous reforms to their electricity market Britain still risked missing its goals set under the fourth budget.

Republican Google Climate Change in Severe Weather Conditions.

July 22, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

Republicans search on net for information regarding climate, weather and global warming in extremely hot and cold weather. On the other hand, democrats search these terms when they come into contact with the changes in the usual temperature. These conclusions are done by Corey Lang of the University of Rhode Island in the US, published in Springer’s journal climate change. He utilized the data of the local weather stations and election result. Lang, uses these data to see how often U.S people searched for terminologies like weather, global warming etc.

590x384_05231951_73479_web He stated that every person takes climate differently and everyone has its own definition of climate change. Surprisingly, people who are from less educated places searched for words associated with climate change when the temperature is on its peak. On the contrary, democrats or the people who are more qualified searched these words, at the time of normal change in temperature. He figured out two possibilities, firstly, the people who face intense weather are more interested in the changes of climate. Secondly, they searched it in order to get a confirmation that global warming is not occurring due to this extreme weather.

A study has revealed that people also react on terminologies differently for instance, people are more scared of word “global warming” than “climate changes”

The New iPhone Launch Will Be Big for Apple and Not Just In Terms of Screen Size

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The fact that the new iPhone may have two version; one with a larger screen and the other with a 4.7 inch screen is perhaps in the vicinity of common knowledge now. The brand is obviously, unbelievably popular and rumors regarding it travel fast. However, the phone may not just be big in size, it is estimated to be quite big for Apple as well. Let me elaborate, according to the Wall Street Journal Apple has asked its suppliers to get them 70-80 million iPhone’s by the end of this year. If we’re really comparing from last year that should be a 60% increase in production from last year in which the production amounted to 50-60 million.

Moreover it is unlikely that Apple will make the same mistake of being too careful in manufacturing new iPhone’s. Since last year the demand for 5S surpassed expectations and there is definitely more anticipation when it comes to iPhone 6. Not only that, but this time the bigger screen version may allow Apple to truly take their competitors head on. The demand for bigger screen has been increasing and companies like Samsung and HTC have tapped into it, but Apple had remained true to their self imposed limitation on the size of the iPhone which – due to unforeseen demand patterns – they have thankfully decided to abandon.

It is no secret that Apple has not been able to reward the loyalty of the customers it has managed to retain and has not been very successful in attracting new users from Android, which is something Android phones have been doing to Apple for some time. However this time, things seem to be looking up for Apple and reports suggest that this will be the most successful launch in the history of the product. Other than that Apple’s Smartwatch is also coming up this year so we have a lot more to expect from Apple than just the iPhone.

Apple’s growth has been stunted for some time now, but it looks like things are looking up for them and the iPhone 6 may usher in a new era for the company.

Bungie Justify Why Destiny Doesn’t Support Cross-Gen Play

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Whether you play games on Xbox 360, XBOX one or destiny in order to include players you have do it through same system. The most interesting question is why systems plays with each other cannot for instance, why a person on Xbox one is unable to play with the other person on Xbox 360.

People often mislead it that it is not technically possible whereas the truth is that Bungie, an American video game developer, want to keep the playing field level. Bungie engineer, Roger Wolfson, gave reasons through hypothetical players that if a player has two pixels on his own screen and the other has four pixels on mine then my opponent has benefits of it. Mostly people have awareness that improved hardware can give you advantages therefore we don’t wish to begin a battle of this thing as well. Consequently, the greatest factor is to leave all the gaming in unconnected. If we allow owners of Xbox 360 and PC version then it will certainly give rise to thousand other issues. The prominent problem was of controller in opposition to keyboard and mouse. He cleared the fact that many features of game will stay unchanged like loading, action game and action packed- no matter what the platform is.

Galaxies- Dance in a strange way

July 22, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Astrophysicists are amazed by new tricky discoveries and knowledge galactic motion. Recently, they have found out that galaxies move around other galaxy since they have a sense of beat which they always follow. This discovery is extremely different from the previous ones that were based on the movement of galaxy.

It states that galaxy move in a disc like motion around the galaxies which are comparatively bigger than them. According to the researchers, this movement begins in 2013 when they find out that several galaxies were encircling the Andromeda galaxy. Through this research scientist examine the characteristics of galaxies and concluded that dancing galaxies have the differing velocity from the one around which they rotate. This end result left astrophysicist in a perplexed state because whenever they observe the rotation of galaxy they found that they move in a consistent and organized motion.

An Australian astrophysicist, Lewis, said that this discovery completely deny the previous theories regarding association of galaxies with each other. He and his fellows who are still working on this research have named these galaxies as “Dancing dwarf galaxy”. Moreover, they analyzed the configuration of the galaxies which are similar in 50 percent of galaxies they inspected yet.
