Bethesda’s Fallout Anthology Comes in a Nuke

July 25, 2015 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Fallout Anthology Collector's Edition

Bethesda just announced that a collector’s edition named Fallout Anthology will hit the light of day on September the 29th in North America, and on the 2nd of October in Europe. If you’re in love with apocalypse-prevailing games, then this collector’s edition is a must-have.

More so, it comes in a nuke – well, not a real one, but something that resembles a mini-nuke, that also has an audible bomb sound.

The complete Fallout Anthology collection consists of – Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition. Yup, there’s no Fallout 4 on that list, and this may be a deal breaker for some. Although, it has a spot for Bethesda’s Fallout 4, you’ll need to purchase it separately when the time comes in November.

Fallout 4 PipBoy Edition

It does serve as a quick hors d’oeuvres before the main Fallout 4 course.  Don’t fret, Fallout 4 will arrive with it own pack of goodies – like the PipBoy Edition, which will make every fan drool over their keyboard right now. You can still pre-order it on Bethesda’s official website. I’e been wanting a PipBoy since I first played Fallout 3 ages ago. This is like a dream come true

Bethesda hasn’t announced how much the Fallout Anthology collector’s edition will cost, but Best Buy has it up on their website available for pre-order at $50.

Until Fallout Anthology, and Fallout 4 arrives, you can waste some time playing Bethesda’s Fallout Shelter iOS game – which is slated to appear for Android pretty soon. As an Android user, saying pretty soon without a set release date in sight feels like a kick in the groin.

Fallout Shelter

If you’re going to be too late for the party, all of the discussed editions will sell before you have a chance on nicking one. Don’t fret though, Bethesda has announced that they’re planning on a mega collector’s edition for Fallout 4. So, you better keep your money safe in your wallet until the game-making company announces every edition that will go on sale.

All of the games from the Fallout Anthology will consist of Game of the Year Editions, which include all of the DLCs, and expansions.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past two months or so, here’s what Fallout 4 will look, and feel like. The game is going to be released for PC Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.

Are you going to take a leave of absence from work to journey in Boston this November? Or you’re just going to play it on the weekends? Tell us in the comments section below.

You can Pre-Order Fallout 4 and Get a Big Discount!

June 4, 2015 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 was just announced yesterday – Bethesda teased us for about 24 hours prior to its announcement with a countdown on their official website. Although we already knew that they were teasing Fallout 4 – you can’t get anything pass this brilliant mind of mine! HA!

The Fallout franchise is one of my favourite game series, and the news that Fallout 4 is real, made me jump up and down for a couple of minutes. It’s been four years since their last game – Fallout: New Vegas; and fans all around the world have been dying for a new release on next gen consoles. I’ll most likely play it on my PC with an Xbox One controller, because that’s how I roll baby!

Fallout 4 is going to come out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

We don’t know that what the new post-apocalyptic iteration is going to be about, and what we know are minor details. The story will be set in Boston, and the series narrator Ron Perlman is back.

Bethesda is preparing for their E3 event – they will showcase Fallout 4 and probably other stuff on the 14th of June.

Fallout 4

We all know that graphics aren’t really that important when it comes to making a great game – take a look at Heroes of Might and Magic 3; superb gameplay, and I still play it with my friends to this day, even though it was released way back in 1999 – but why do I get the feeling that the new instalment is just Fallout 3 with a different skin? It looks almost like its older brother. The E3 event is going to shine a bright light on this issue – hopefully!

Now, shopto.net has jumped on the bandwagon and they will be offering a pretty huge discount to those who pre-order Falllout 4 for PS4, and Xbox One – no love for PC gamers huh?!

This will probably put it about $40 or something like this – considering the fact that it’s going to be released at $60, I’m already sold.

Fallout 4 Pre-Order

This comes against everything I stand for – pre-ordering games to be more exact. I really don’t want to do this, but we are talking about Bethesda here, and they have yet to disappoint me. Well, their Fallout 3 PC port was just horrible – random memory leaks, and crashes that made me throw punches into thin air, but I still love them for their PlayStation release.

The game is rumoured to be launched this Autumn – more exactly in October. But don’t be disappointed if Bethesda pushes the release for Fallout 4 sometime in early 2016. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and wait for their E3 presentation.

Here’s the trailer that riled us up!

The team behind Prey 2 talks about its cancellation

April 9, 2015 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Prey 2 was the much awaited sequel to 2006’s Prey – a first person shooter set in a world where aliens abduct humans so they can feed off of them. Something along the lines of War of the Worlds, but without crazy turned Scientologist Tom Cruise.

Developer Human Head Studios shares some insight on why the game was never meant to exist – it was actually scrapped way back in 2011, 3 years before Bethesda officially announced the title’s cancellation.

“We stopped working on Prey 2 near the end of 2011, and had been working on it for close to two years. It was very close to an alpha state, with all major content pieces represented. We were at that point in a game where you can step back and see the whole picture and shift from developer to editor and decide which elements to cut and which elements to emphasis and polish.” – Chris Rhinehart, project director has stated for Develop.

Prey 2 was officially revelead in March of 2011, but by the end of 2011 Bethesda was not pleased with the quality of the game, announcing in October of 2014 that the game – ” […] wasn’t up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It’s no longer in development. That wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one that won’t surprise many folks given that we hadn’t been talking about it.”

Both developer and publisher have some contradictory views. While Bethesda is saying that the quality of the game was poor, and it lacked several key features, Human Head Studios are stating that – ” Our tech had progressed significantly past the live demo we ran at E3, Gamescom and PAX and was even more impressive. It’s my personal opinion that we would have been counted among the best looking games of the previous console generation.”

At this point, we really don’t know who to believe. It’s true, the demo that ran at E3 was brilliant, and we saw how much work was put into the Prey universe, but on the other hand, it was just a demo, and everything was scripted.

We will never know what Prey 2 could have been, but we are glad that the guys and girls behind Prey weren’t utterly destroyed by the cancellation of their 2 year project. They managed to get up like a Phoenix from its ashes, and help Irrational Games’ Bioshock: Infinite with level designers, system designers, programmers, artists and animators. Small teams from the studio also went on to create mobile free-to-play title Fort Courage, while other employees where put to work for Trion World’s MMO Defiance –  art, level and character design.

Publisher Amazon Game Studio

Now the studio is hardly working on Lost Within – a survival horror game set inside a haunted asylum filled with monsters, where the player is tasked with confronting a famous killer who has been locked inside. It is rumoured to be released this Spring, or Summer – no official date exists at this moment. Lost Within is designed for smartphones and tablets. Published by Amazon Game Studios especially for their Fire devices, the game will also appear for  iPhone and iPad. A trailer can be watched right here.
