iOS 8 Release for iPhone: 9 Things to Expect

September 16, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

The iOS 8 offers free of cost software upgrade to all the iPhone users. The iOS update brings some really new appealing iPhone features that are easily accessible for iPhone owners.

Apple has already installed iOS in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Therefore, people who intend to purchase a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus should not worry about this new upgraded software. However, the owners of previous models of iPhone can install iOS 8 two days ahead of the release of iPhone 6.

Apple has confirmed 17th of September as the release date of iPhone iOS 8. The preview will give you some insight about next Wednesday.

The owner of iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s  and iPhone 6 can update the latest version of iOS 8. The company will release an iOS 8 iPad and iPod touch update on the same day.

The iOS 8 release date is just two days ways and following are the things that people can look forward in it.

iOS Release time and Details:

Apple has not announced any specific release time for iOS 8 release. However, people can rely on 1PM/ Eastern / 10 AM pacific for the release date of iOS 8. Every year Apple begins the new iOS updates at this time and it is doubtful that they will change it this year.

All the carrier will let people download the iOS 8 update on the similar day unlike Android updates. Android updates usually come with a delay for both carriers and countries.

iOS 8 Installation problems:

The iOS 8 release date is the worst time to update the new version of iOS. You can not work on your iPhone until the entire installation of iOS 8 update is finished. You have to deal with some serious issues, even if by mistake you run something on your iPhone. People usually complain about the restoration if anything goes wrong in the middle of the installation.

Generally, the servers of Apple fail to facilitate millions of users  in the beginning hours of the release of iOS 8.

People who are currently possessing an 8 GB iPhone 4s or iPhone 5c or a 16 GB iPhone 5  are required to empty up their storage before the installation of the update. People for whom it is nearly impossible to delete even a single file or apps from their phone will need to plug-in to their computer in order to install the update of iOS 8 on the iPhone.

Clean iOS 8 Install is Best:

The installation of new versions of iOS would not ask you to clear your data, apps and accounts. The data  would remain on your iPhone. However, if you face any problem then you will definitely have to carry out a clean iOS 8 installation.

A clean iOS 8 installation eradicates all the issues which might be a factor of bad iOS 8 battery life.

The first thing you should do is back up your iPhone data, then connect to iTunes and select the option of the  restore.

Restores can also be done through your iPhone backup, but it would not be a complete clean of iOS 8.

iOS 8 Battery Life Problems:

Mostly people will complain about a bad iOS 8 battery life shortly after the release date of iOS 8. This issue can arise from installation issues, apps consuming large amount of battery and other problems. The company never purposely reduces the life of your battery, but it occurs.

If you come in contact with any battery related issues after the iOS 8 update, then reset your settings. In settings, check the new iOS battery usage option. If it would not repair your problem, then perform a complete restore to iOS and begin from scratch.

iOS 8 App Updates & Issues

Developers tested the new iOS beta quite a few months to ensure but still there are chances that people can face some problems

Problems that you might handle which are not updated for iOS are:

  1. iOS 8 Keyboard with predictive text covering buttons.
  2. Share Options not working in all app.
  3. App crashes on iOS 8.

People can expect most of the updates of iOS 8 apps to turn up this week.

iOS 8 Performance Complaints:

One of the few problems of iOS 8 is related to performance. The new software updates usually lessen the speed of the old devices. This time iPhone 4s is the oldest that will get an iOS 8 update.

In the beginning of 2014 Apple introduced an improved iPhone performance on iOS 7. Therefore, it is expected that Apple will release same sort of iOS 8.1 for the iPhone 4s.

iOS 8 Bug Fix in October Possible:

Apple has announced that there will be an iOS 8 update in October which will add the feature of  Apple pay to iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the company will release an update for other iPhones or not.

Generally, Apple release fix bug updates soon after the release of any new software.

Missing feature of iOS 8:

The iOS 8 would not offer all the features to the user of iPhone 4s.  Apple required to do this in order to provide better performance in some older devices. The iPhone 4s iOS 8 update would not include the feature of Continuity. This feature let users to answer calls on a Mac or iPad and text message. Moreover, iPhone 4s would not be compatible with the new Apple Watch.

Pick A Good Time to Install iOS 8

It is recommended to install iOS update after a few days of its release. This way you can avoid several problems and save your time.

New Release Date For The Samsung Galaxy Note 4

September 16, 2014 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

A new release date of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 appeared before October. Samsung has not officially announced any release date of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 yet.

Samsung revealed and flaunted numerous new products at the launch event of 3rd of September. The company unveiled a new watch Gear S, Galaxy Note Edge etc. Samsung released Galaxy Note 4 as the flagship of the company which can give a tough competition to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The primary problem is that people are still unaware of the specific release date of Samsung Galaxy Note 4. People begin to anticipate more for the official release date shortly after the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Although there is not any single particular Galaxy Note 4 release date, but still we have observed some development in the launch of the device. Lately, the product has passed through Bluetooth certifications and FCC, which are two really noteworthy progressions in the release of the device. The three major carriers that are  AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon got approval from FCC. Nevertheless, the specific release date is still not clear.

Recently, another October release date has emerged for Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Dutch retailers pointed out 10 of October as a rough Samsung Galaxy Note release date. Whereas, Amazon directs towards 3rdof October for the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Clove, a UK retailer states another release date according to which Samsung Galaxy Note 4 would touch the markets of UK in the week of the 13 of October. However, we cannot consider it as a particular date that means the retailer is probably expecting it to come between 13th to 17th of October. Usually, United Kingdom stands in the forefront line on Samsung release, therefore this date also indicates towards the worldwide release of the product.

Samsung first launched Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 in the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, the retailer declares the price of Galaxy Note 4 and states that customers can order the product at a cost of £479.17 (£575 inc. VAT). It is a price for the SIM free international Galaxy Note 4 variant. Generally, the price of Samsung devices differs from one retailer to another thus it is not the best time to order the price.

Sadly, these details are not sufficient enough to confirm the release date of Galaxy Note 4. Currently, Samsung and its carrier partners are not saying anything related to the release of Galaxy Note 4 in the U.S. it is still uncertain when this device will reach the shelves to enter the race of latest phones such as iPhone 6, LG G3 and HTC One.

Apple’s two brand new models iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus are all ready to reach the shelves on Friday. It means the iPhone will definitely defeat Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the United States.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 would be rich in terms of features. It will arrive with a new 5.7 inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm, 16 MP cameras with Optical Image Stabilization, 32 GB of internal storage, Android 4.4.4 Kitkat software and a brand new S pen.

It will certainly replace the previous member of the Samsung Galaxy family, which is Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Special Features

September 15, 2014 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

Premium Design

Over the years, there have been a lot of complaints about plastic casing of Samsung phones, and it appears that Samsung has finally introduced metal casing for its phones. Galaxy Note 4 has a metal frame in contrast to Note 3 that has a plastic frame. This metal frame gives the phone an expensive look. However, just like Note 3, Note 4 has a faux-leather back.

Ultraviolet (UV) Sensor

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 appears to be the first mobile phone to come with a built-in UV sensor. Users are going to be able to get information about the quantity of UV radiation they are getting when they are under the sun. It comes in five grade measurements namely: Low, Moderate, High, Very High, and Extreme. The UV sensor is activated when you hold the phone at some degree angle while under the sun. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is programmed to warn people when they are getting too much UV radiation. I will personally love to see how accurate UV radiation measurements are when this phone is released for sale. But until then, you can expect that Galaxy note 4 is going to provide you with a mobile UV sensor so that you can know the amount of UV radiation you are being exposed to from time to time.

Ultra Power Saving Mode

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features “ultra power saving mode.” This power saving mode allows you to use your phone for an extended period. When you activate ultra power saving mode, the phone will run a simple home screen layout by deactivating unnecessary features. In addition, you will have a limited access to apps when the ultra power saving mode is activated. This feature may prove very important when you are having a low battery level and there is no way to charge your phone. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 3,220mAH.  Another special feature that comes with Galaxy Note 4 is the Fast Charging capability. This is a fantastic feature. Through this special feature, you should be able to charge Note 4 battery to 50% level in 30 minutes.

Screen Quality

Galaxy note 4 comes with Quad HD Super AMOLED technology. The resolution is 1440 x 2560 pixels (approx. 515 ppi pixel density). The screen also features an adaptive display technology. This technology allows the phone to change its display depending on the light of the place you are viewing the screen. All these features give the phone an elegant display. Colors appear very clear and vivid on this phone.

Enhanced S- Pen and S Note

The S Pen has been improved in many ways. I personally love some of the new features included in the S Pen. The stylus now has 2048 levels of pressure sensing which double that of Note 3 and thus making it easier to write on Galaxy Note 4. In addition, S Note app now allows you to choose between Calligraphy pen and Fountain Pen. Both Fountain and Calligraphy pens mimic what you will experience when using a real pen and paper. Smart Select lets you select multiple lines of text without having to long-press the screen. In addition, you can also select multiple images from your gallery by using the Smart Select mode. This mode allows you to use the S Pen just as you use a mouse. By pressing the side button of S Pen you can launch the Smart Select mode. If you want to select a text, image or an item, just press the side button of S Pen and drag it across the items you want to select. Another feature of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that is worthy of mentioning is Snap Note. This feature gives you the opportunity to take the picture of a handwritten note and then convert it to digital copy. You can then edit/modify the note as you like. Snap Note is programmed in such a way that it can recognize a text and an image present on an analog notebook.

Enhanced Multitasking Capability

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with 2.7GGz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor making it very fast in handling different tasks at the same time. However, it is important to point out that some markets will get a Exynos 5433 processor. In addition, Note 4 has a 3GB RAM installed, and thereby making the multitasking capability of this phone a great one.Note 4 has an enhanced split-screen capability. You can now easily resize or float app windows just like a widget. By holding the small circle on the apps, you can quickly create a floating window, and you may then drag this floating window to any part of the screen.

 Enhanced Voice Recording Capability

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a new voice recording app that has the ability to give a great record in noisy environments. It comes equipped with three microphone to help with a directional noise cancellation. In addition, Note 4 gives you the ability to select direction you want to pick up voices from. You can select up to eight different directions. For example, if you are in a big hall you can set Note 4 recording app to record voices only coming from the speakers. This gives you the advantage of getting a quality record. In addition, you can use the interview mode to isolate the interviewee voice in order to get a quality voice record.

Heart Rate Monitor

Just like Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4 also has a heart rate sensor that allows you to track your pulse by just tapping your finger on heart rate sensor located at the back of the phone.

Fingerprint Sensor

The fingerprint sensor is similar to the one present in Samsung Galaxy S5. In addition, Galaxy Note 4 now gives you the ability to use fingerprint shortcuts. This enables you customize your individual fingers for different app. For example, you can set your index finger to open one app, and set another finger to open another app. After customizing different fingers for different app, all you have to do to open this app is to flick the finger that correspond to the app you want to open. This will probably give you a quick access to your most used apps. You can also use the fingerprint sensor to sign in into compatible websites like PayPal.

Camera

Note 4 camera can take shadow-free photos with real-time HDR. The phone has 16MP camera compared to 12MP camera present in Note 3. In addition, Note 4 has optical image stabilization making it good at taking clear and sharp images. Samsung equipped Note 4 with a 3.7 MP front-facing camera and an f/1.9 aperture lens..

Galaxy Note 4 Versus Galaxy Note Edge: Comparison

September 15, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

  • The main difference between Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge is the design. Galaxy Note 4 Edge uses a bendable OLED display. This bent side of the display takes care of the incoming notifications so that you have the main screen to yourself. This bent side of the display can work independently from the main screen. For example, if the main display is off, you can still check your notifications and news update by swiping the bent side of the display.
  •  When you are using the video app, the bent strip becomes a sidebar containing all the controls so that the main screen if freed up. Furthermore, you can access weather info, clock, news update from the bent display. In addition, you can manage which apps are displayed in the bent display. To do this, swipe up on the bent strip using finger in order to reveal a setting icon and then click on this icon. However, please note that if you swipe down, you will access a toolbar button instead of the settings button.
  •  Apart from the bent display, every other features appear essentially similar in Samsung Galaxy Edge and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 except for the battery power. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has 3,220 mAh while Samsung Galaxy Edge has 3,000mAh. In addition, Note Edge has a 5.6-inch display due to the bent part of the screen.
  • Samsung made it known that Galaxy Note Edge SDK will be available to developers. I expect that one should be able to put this bent display to more uses when developers have access to the SDK.
  • Furthermore, I will like to point out that it is easier for right handed people to use Galaxy Note Edge than the left handed people. If you are a left handed person you may have to flip your phone in such a way that the home button now appears at the top of the screen. This may not be convenient every time but it may not be a big deal.
  • The price of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is likely to be higher than that of Galaxy note 4.

Should I Buy Galaxy Note Edge or Galaxy Note 4?

  •  If you are very much concerned about design then you may go for Galaxy Note Edge. This is because Note Edge has a better design and look than Galaxy Note 4. I personally will prefer Galaxy Note Edge to Galaxy Note 4, but we still have to hope that the price difference between Note Edge and Note 4 will not be much. If the price difference is much then Galaxy Edge may not really worth it. We have to wait and see how their prices will look like.

Should I Upgrade My Note 3 to Note 4?

  •  There is no straightforward answer to this question. If after reading this guide, you are sure that Note 4 has major improvements then you may consider upgrading to Note 4.

When is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 going to be available?

  •  There are strong indications that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available starting from October.

Which of the US Network carriers will sell Samsung Galaxy Note 4?

  •  I was able to gather from a reliable source that AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular will carry Samsung Galaxy Note 4 when it becomes available.

Samsung Galaxy Note will be sold at what price?

  •  As usual, the price of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will vary across different regions of the world. However, I believe that the price of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 should be comparable to Galaxy Note 3 price when it was released last year. As at the time of writing this report, you can pre-order the unlocked version of Galaxy Note 4 for $899.00 on Amazon.

Windows 9 Preview Released On Youtube: Come Back Of Start Menu

September 13, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

I might seem fanatical, but I am one of the few people who don’t mind Windows 8/8.1. The general moan with Microsoft’s present Windows operating system is basically how the Start Menu virtually moved out with Windows 8. Consequently, Microsoft is working hard on preparing Windows 9 naming “Threshold” in order to swap with their Windows 8 operating system.

Now, rumors regarding Microsoft’s Windows 9 are; it is going to launch on September 30th, but yet it’s not the confirmed news. Though the release of Windows 9 video on YouTube, folks got some idea that it will be launching soon. But just try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release video so the final product might differ.

It has been observed that most of the Windows users are probably gasping a communal moan of relief, and maybe a few cheers, seeing that the Microsoft is refurbishing the Start Menu to its earlier functionality along with some other features.

The ever exciting part of the Microsoft Windows 9 is that it also looks to be incorporating the tile based Start Screen as part of the Start Menu. It offers that you will be able to pin any app as a tile to the Start Menu, which vigorously swells as additional tiles are added. Seeing that with the current Start Screen you can easily drag, resize, and unpin any of the tiles.

Although it seems to be a nice solution for folks who like the current Windows 8.x iteration of the Start Screen will feel delighted to see that Microsoft has incorporated an option for users to opt the occupied tiled interface as well.

Lastly, most of the people want to resize Windows apps in Windows 8.x. When you see Windows 8 it ran full screen, but in 8.1 Microsoft added a title bar, along with the minimize and close buttons, and it looks like they will be taking it one step further in Windows 9 with fully windowed apps.
As I have said earlier, I don’t mind the way Windows 8.1 knobs the Start Menu.

I am fond of the tiled interface of the Start Screen and a quick Windows Key plus X gets me speedily to the menu items. I want faster way in to, same like control panel and command prompt. However, after watching the video, I suppose that Microsoft ought to have used this hybrid approach out of the gate with Windows 8. The incorporated Start/Tile Menu, options to go entirely tiled as is the case with Windows 8.x, plus windowed Windows apps is a clear-cut enhancement and allow access to the interface style they prefer on both sides of the hedge.

If Windows 9 certainly is revealed later this month, it symbols one of the shortest Windows life cycles since Windows XP in just less than 2 years. Furthermore in less than a year if you calculate the 8.1 point launch as a Windows launch and not an update.

Procedure to Use Multi Window Mode on Galaxy Note 4

September 13, 2014 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

Samsung officially revealed Samsung Galaxy Note 4 at several press events. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 contains some incredible features and comes in a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED display.

The new Samsung Note 4 is fully loaded with new features. The device has an aluminum design, leather back and much better 16 megapixel camera with an option of optical image stabilization. The size of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is quote large because of which most people are attracted towards this device.

Samsung first releases Multi Window mode in Galaxy Note 2. Since the company wants to offer the best to its customer, therefore, it also launched the Multi Window mode in Galaxy Note 4. LG introduced the same feature in its devices and named it as dual Window. Following are the directions to operate two apps at the same time in Galaxy Note 4.

This Multi Window mode allows the user to run two apps simultaneously. The user can perform this task side-by side in a landscape mode and one on another in a portrait mode.

The user will certainly be glad about this new feature since it makes Galaxy Note 4 an incredible smartphone. It permits the user to perform more than one task for instance user can check his email while watching a video on the You Tube.

Instructions:

Although the company has given an option on the side of the screen for this purpose but it is pretty horrible. Rather than using that method we will press the button that is located at the back of Galaxy Note 4.  This button will bring up multi window mode.
Long press and then drag the icon and it will let you use two apps simultaneously. Afterwards, choose the next app and again drag it to the top or bottom. The most important thing over here is that this process is not applicable for all apps. Most of the apps like Google Chrome, Facebook can perform this task. It will certainly make easier to use two items at a time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has 3GB of RAM and a powerful 2.7 GHz quad core processor that runs everything fast.  The best thing is that it lets user re-size the screen according to the need. The user can drag  the blue circle in order to change the size of the screen.  People can even watch video and browse the internet at the same time. Several other  smartphone companies also tried to copy this feature.

It definitely makes multitasking much easier and just with a tap user can return back to the normal workflow.

Recently, LG added a button for its feature of dual window which permit users to immediately launch two apps with just a single tap.  However, Samsung  multi tasking window is a bit different since the users have to scroll again if he in order to find an app.

Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is very appealing because of its large and vibrant Quad HD display and multi tasking feature. It is expected to be on sale in the end of October.

Some of the people believe that the new Google Nexus 8 or 9 will come with a display of 8.9 inch HD so Google Nexus 7 is the last 7 inch tablet.

This week some more significant details came forward regarding the new Google Nexus 8. As per the reports, HTC will design Google Nexus 9 with a quad-core NVIDIA K1 processor.  NVIDIA, the global technology company declared that “HTC Nexus 9” will release with a quad core processor.

Previous month HTC tablet cleared a few certifications such as Wi-Fi certification and FCC Filing.  However, it is not yet confirmed that this new device of HTC is Nexus tablet but all rumors points it out.

The biggest leak up till now came from NVIDIA and it is considered as the benchmark. NIVIDIA stated that HTC would launch Google Nexus 9 till the third quarter of this year that means the end of September. Though, it could also signify an early October release for the new Nexus 9 and Android 4.5 or 5.0.

Following are some of the features of “HTC Nexus 9” which are confirmed by NVIDIA.

  1. Nexus 9 Specs (Rumored)
  2. 8.9-inch 2048 x 1440 Full HD display (4:3 aspect ratio)
  3. NVIDIA Tegra K1 Quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM (64-bit)
  4. 16/32GB storage configurations
  5. Android 4.5 or 5.0 (L Release)
  6. 8 Megapixel OIS rear and 3 MP front camera
  7. Zero-gap aluminum unibody design
  8. HTC signature front facing speakers

Google make use of new devices for the release of the next version of Android. Android L would be the next version of Android that will likely to come later this fall.

The fourth quarter of the year will start soon so people are expecting to hear some more news related to HTC Nexus 9. If Google revealed Nexus 9 tablet then it would certainly function of the new Android L.

People are looking forward to the Nexus 9 tablet due to the shortage of Nexus 7 in the stores.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Released

September 13, 2014 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

The highly anticipated Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update has just started. Way back in June, Google has launched two spanking new Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the forms of Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Both were, and still are, bug fixers intended at hush-up major Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems. In prior three months, we have seen numerous Android manufacturers make it a point to bring these two updates to Smartphone and tablet users.

We have seen that Samsung lagged behind in this stance, but early this month, they also comes up with the number of new Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update details including an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update inveterate for the Galaxy Note 4 and the company’s first Android 4.4.4 KitKat squash.
Recently, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S3 Neo Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update in Kazakhstan. You can get the update via company’s Samsung Kies software for PC. In fact, this update was the company’s first Android 4.4.4 KitKat update but it’s not going to be its last for sure.

The Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update has started rolling out yesterday. The update brings out with the number of new features and it should be rolling out, gradually, to Galaxy Note 3 available owners on the Now Network. As per the reports waving around, the Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update was prowling on the Sprint’s Website in the last week; although it has not been out yet.

No doubt, it seems to be the good news for the Galaxy users all over the United States, Australia and the rest of the world but it doesn’t alter the truth that the Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat condition remains gloomy in front of the Android L release.
