Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Released

September 13, 2014 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

The highly anticipated Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update has just started. Way back in June, Google has launched two spanking new Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the forms of Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Both were, and still are, bug fixers intended at hush-up major Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems. In prior three months, we have seen numerous Android manufacturers make it a point to bring these two updates to Smartphone and tablet users.

We have seen that Samsung lagged behind in this stance, but early this month, they also comes up with the number of new Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update details including an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update inveterate for the Galaxy Note 4 and the company’s first Android 4.4.4 KitKat squash.
Recently, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S3 Neo Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update in Kazakhstan. You can get the update via company’s Samsung Kies software for PC. In fact, this update was the company’s first Android 4.4.4 KitKat update but it’s not going to be its last for sure.

The Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update has started rolling out yesterday. The update brings out with the number of new features and it should be rolling out, gradually, to Galaxy Note 3 available owners on the Now Network. As per the reports waving around, the Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update was prowling on the Sprint’s Website in the last week; although it has not been out yet.

No doubt, it seems to be the good news for the Galaxy users all over the United States, Australia and the rest of the world but it doesn’t alter the truth that the Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat condition remains gloomy in front of the Android L release.

AT&T Declares the Release of iPhone 6, iOS 8 Feature

September 13, 2014 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

Apple unveiled a new feature known as Wi-Fi calling this year at World Wide Developer Conference. The Wi-Fi calling will let user  make calls from a wireless network rather than carrier towers. Currently, only T-Mobile offers this new exciting feature whereas AT&T will get this service till the start of 2015.

Ralph de la Vega, President of AT&T announced that the company would not offer the Wi-Fi calling feature of the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 to its customers till next year.  Moreover, de la Vega stated that they are not in a hurry to release this Wi-Fi calling system. since the company considers this feature something as an addition to the current services instead of replacement.

On the other hand, T-Mobile disclosed a new aspect of the Uncarrier campaign soon after the proclamation of De La Vega about W-Fi calling. The company stated that the entire line of handset of T-Mobile will support Wi-Fi calling and texting.  The technology which T-Mobile has presented is definitely faultless .

It will allow the user of T-Mobile iPhone 6 to connect with Wi-Fi for making calls without disconnecting their cellular network. In simple words, users can begin a call on T-Mobile and later on can swap to their Wi-Fi calling. The Wi-Fi feature of T-Mobile will also offer the service of messaging on iPhone 6.

T-Mobile seems so satisfied with the new Wi-Fi feature that it has stopped selling the phones that do not contain this feature.
Furthermore, T-Mobile has launched a new program for customers who want to switch their device to Wi-Fi calling. The company has named it as T-Mobile Jump Program. Through this program T-Mobile users can get hold of the wireless router from the company without any cost. In short, T-Mobile will sell a built in Wi-Fi calling service for its users.

On the other hand, De la Vega pointed out the chief cause behind the T-Mobile’s obsession with Wi-Fi calling service. He informed that it will certainly help T-Mobile to attract the smartphone users who live in areas where the signals are not that sufficient. Since it is nearly impossible for T-mobile to form a large network  like AT&T Mobile. Including Wi-Fi is the simplest way to invite people to avail the services of T-Mobile even if they do not get adequate reception in their area.

As far as other mobile carriers are concerned, the picture is still not clear.  Sprint offers Wi-Fi calling feature for selected Smartphone whereas Verizon has not announced anything yet regarding this feature.

T-Mobile Takes WI-Fi Voice and Text Everywhere

September 13, 2014 By Michael Turner Leave a Comment

A revolutionary news in the town is that T-Mobile today announced their latest move to bring in customers that they will allow WiFi calling. T-Mobile also declared to do an affiliation with Gogo, the in-flight WiFi company, that will let T-Mobile purchasers send unlimited texts from planes operational with Gogo so now you can also check your voicemail. It’s do not charge any cost for T-Mobile customers.

These are what T-Mobile is calling “Gogo ready phones”, that also means you’ll have to be on a flight using Gogo internet, from a US airline so there is no cost to you, so it’s another way T-Mobile is making staying connected easy.

This indicates buyers can make HD voice calls, whether they are connected to a wifi network or one of T-Mobile’s towers and go between the two connections without the call dropping or otherwise affecting the quality of the call this special offer also ensures coverage in areas poorly or not covered at all by T-Mobile’s network.

This feature is only for all postpaid customers on their network, especially for those who are paying monthly charges for their phones, it will automatically activated the WiFi calling and VoLTE that development is happening across their network, too. This is a tough competitive step against the iPhone 6, where Apple launched WiFi calls a standard fee charge on its device, too.

Now to onwards, every new smartphone sold by T-Mobile will come Wi-Fi-enabled for Wi-Fi calling and texting (the characteristic must be built-in by the company) and the great news is, T-Mobile also offers the iPhone 5C and 5S, both of which will take benefit of this feature.

This feature will run through a high range router so T-Mobile will also offer a high-end router for your home that’ll make sure you have a well-built connection for WiFi calling. The router is free of charge for pre-paid customers, but you have to to submit a $25 deposit but you can also purchase it for $99.

It’s the newest approach by the nation’s fourth-largest carrier T-Mobile to take hold on market share from its larger competitors through exceptional plans.

iPhone 6 Release Date, Specifications, Features and Launch Date

September 13, 2014 By Karen Jackson Leave a Comment

This September a slew of smartphones are going to be announced. One of the most anticipated smartphones among them is the Apple iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 will arrive to replace the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C handsets that came out in 2013.

Apple iPhone 6 Launch Date

Throughout the year, Apple hardly spoke anything about the iPhone 6 features and specifications. Apple tried to keep the iPhone 6 features secret but the rumor mill has revealed a lot about the device.

Recently, Apple released an invitation to the media stating that it will be announcing the next generation iPhone 6 on September 9. The invitation only includes the date of the event as ‘9.9.2014’ and the tagline that reads ‘Wish we could say more’. The invitation does not reveal the names of any product. It will be held at the campus of the De Anza College located at Cupertino at 10am Pacific Time.

From the tagline of the invitation, we can clearly understand that Apple intends to introduce the new iPhone 6 along with the iOS 8, the details of which have been revealed to the world through numerous leaks. Apple fans are anticipating the unveiling of two iPhone 6 models running on the new iOS 8 which include a 4.7inch iPhone 6 and 5.5inch iPhone 6 phablet and the Apple iWatch. The 5.5inch iPhone 6 is also being referred to as iPhone 6L and iPhone Air.

Last year, Apple had unveiled two iPhone 5 variants, namely the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. Since the time the former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs acquainted the first iPhone in 2007 to the world, the Cupertino based company has been successfully launching new iPhones every year.

On September 3, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Note 4 phablet and after few days the new iPhone 6 will come out to compete with the Galaxy Note 4. Though the rumored iPhone 6 specifications are no way close to the Galaxy Note 4 specifications, it is still a very popular smartphone. The 5.5inch iPhone 6 can be a serious threat to the Galaxy Note 4.

The popularity of the iPhone 6 is such that Apple has already asked manufacturing companies to make 30% to 40% more iPhones until the end of 2014. Samsung has already unveiled the 4.7inch Galaxy Alpha smartphone which is said to be a rival product for the 4.7inch iPhone 6. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha sales will begin on September 12.

Rumors are also hinting that the iWatch smartwatch would also be unleashed on September 9. Again, there is no confirmation from Apple on it. Apple is also expected to launch a sequel edition for iPhone 5C.

Apple iPhone 6 Release Date

Apple has only revealed the iPhone 6 launch date but is again mum on the iPhone 6 release date. The details on the release date should be disclosed at the launch event.

As we mentioned above, the Cupertino company will be releasing two editions of iPhone 6. Among the two, the 4.7inch is expected to come out first in the market. The 5.5inch iPhone 6 will be priced high and the high-end specs totting phablet will take some time to arrive in the market.

Tech analysts are citing that Apple is facing production issues because of which the larger iPhone 6 is not expected to arrive with the 4.7inch edition. Samsung is the major rival for iPhone devices. The 4.7inch iPhone 6 already has a competitor handset waiting to give fierce competition. We are talking about the Samsung Galaxy Alpha which sports a metal body and 4.7inch display screen like the rumored 4.7inch iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6 is one of the most desired smartphones. Even though Samsung smartphones like Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 have gained good popularity, Apple enjoys loyal customer base in the US. Speculations are rife that Apple has ordered its manufacturing units to build around 80 million units to meet the high demand.

The iPhone 6 release date is probably rumored to happen from Sept 16 to Sept 19. By looking at the previous release patterns, one can easily gauge that the Cupertino company has been in the habit of releasing the iPhone models on second Friday after the product launch date.

iPhone 6 Price

The Apple iPhone 6 will not come for cheap. Apple has been always launching its iPhone models with expensive price tags. Still, iPhone models are highly popular in the US and all over the world.

It was in the news that China Telecom would be selling unlocked version of iPhone 6. China Telecom had itself revealed about it through a post on social networking site called Weibo but later on it was deleted.

Rumors have it that the iPhone Air would be priced $100 higher than the iPhone 5S’s price. The reason behind it is that it is not a regular smartphone but a phablet device sporting a larger screen and advanced features compared to the 4.7inch iPhone 6.

The 4.7inch iPhone 6 is rumored to come with an off-contract price tag of $800 for a 32GB edition. The same variant will arrive in the US through all the leading carriers with an affordable on-contract price tag.

iPhone 6 Specifications and Features

Design and Display

The iPhone 6 will be slimmer than all the earlier editions. The iPhone 6 is expected to appear similar to iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 tablets. The power button has been moved from the top to the edge of the device. The corners of the device are rumored to be rounded. The handset is expected to be available in colors like gold, silver and grey.

The 4.7inch iPhone 6 is speculated to be housed with Retina and IGZO display technology enabled display screen. It will support full HD resolution. Other rumors reveal the very same edition will feature 1704 x 960 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 416ppi. Other rumor reveals that the handset may sport 828 x 1472 pixels resolution or 1242 x 2208 pixels resolution.

The iPhone Air phablet is expected to come with quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels which is available on the LG G3 and the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3. So, if the iPhone 6 wants to give serious competition to Android powered quadHD smartphones, it has to come out with support for quadHD resolution.

The display screen of 4.7inch iPhone 6 and 5.5inch iPhone Air will be protected by Sapphire glass which is scratch resistant and unbreakable. It is the very same glass that Apple has been using to protect the Touch ID sensor and camera lens. Sapphire glasses don’t come for cheap. Hence, the new iPhone 6 models are going to sport expensive price tag.

Internal Storage Options and Software

As far as internal storage options are concerned; the larger 5.5inch iPhone 6 is expected to come housed with a new storage option of 128GB. It will also come with other storage options like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Other rumors reveal that the iPhone Air won’t feature a 32GB variant. The 4.7inch iPhone 6 will come with internal storage options like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

The all new iOS 8 is expected to run on both the new models of iPhone 6. The iOS 8 will come with improvements to various features like Siri, Spotlight, iCloud, Photos, and Touch ID. The new Health app will show up collected data from various health apps and health tracking devices.

Processor and RAM

The Apple iPhone 6 models are heavily speculated to come with an A8 processor. The new processor will help in extending the battery life of the device. It has been designed for playing high-end games on the forthcoming iPhone models.

Other rumors reveal that Apple will continue to offer a 64-bit dual-core processor working at a speed of 2GHz. There is no confirmation on the number of RAM on the new iPhone models. Rumors have it that the 4.7inch iPhone 6 will come with 1GB RAM which is also available on last year’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5. The 64-bit processor would certainly produce better performance if it is coupled with up to 4GB RAM.

The 5.5inch iPhone Air is expected to be more powerful in terms of performance compared to the 4.7inch iPhone 6. The main processor of iPhone 6 will be coupled by a co-processor named Phosphorous.

Phosphorous is a dedicated processor that will mainly collect data from various sensors present on the iPhone 6 such as the barometer and air pressure sensors. The collected information will be transferred to the main processor of the iPhone 6 and relevant information will be shown to the user.

Camera

The iPhone 6 is heavily speculated to come with the best camera sensor ever. At the beginning of the year, Apple had purchased Sony camera sensors. The iPhone 6 is expected to feature a 13MP Sony sensor rear camera.

Rumors coming from China Post, reveal that the iPhone 6 will feature an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture which will be able to snap stunning photos.

Connectivity and Battery

Both the iPhone 6 handsets will support high speed internet connectivity through LTE Advanced. It will be able to deliver download speeds of up to 300Mbps.

One feature that is heavily rumored to be available on iPhone 6 is NFC connectivity. Android smartphones have been offering NFC connectivity since quite some time. However, Apple would be offering the feature for the first time on the forthcoming iPhone 6 models.

Rumors reveal that the 4.7inch iPhone 6 will be running on an 1800mAh battery. The iPhone Air is expected to be powered up by a 2500mAh battery.

Apple iWatch along with iPhone 6- Makes Sense?

September 13, 2014 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

A recent report stated that Apple will reveal a smartwatch with iPhone 6 on the 9th of September. It is anticipated that the company will launch the iWatch at a massive media event.

This device offers HomeKit function as well on Apple’s new iOS 8 operating systems. Homekit function allows users to manage lights, and garage doors from anywhere in the house. The iWatch can also work with Apple’s Health app that save fitness and other health data of users for instance heart rate, blood pressure.

As per the rumors this iWatch will have a 2.5 inch arched rectangular display screen which will be provided by LG.  On the other hand, Apple is expected to launch iPhone 6 with a screen of 5.5 inches.

iphone6 is the ninth model in the series of iPhones. The company is planning to launch it in two different screen one of 4.7 inches and other of 5.5 inches. The company will first release 4.7 inch iPhone screen and shortly after that 5.5 inches.

The two screens will come with in-cell technology, which the company previously presented in iPhone 5. Apple is offering three colors in iPhone 6 that are silver, gold and space gray.

According to the Wall Street Journal the company has ordered suppliers to manufacture nearly 8 million new handsets till the end of December.

A new iPad of 12.9 inch screen will break into production at the beginning of next year. Mixed results of third quarter are the chief reason behind this refurbishment of product range.

iPhone 6 and the China’s Launch Weekend Mystery

September 13, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Considered as the hottest news of this September might be the launch of iPhone 6 in several major countries. Though, China won’t be amongst them. However, the basis for its keeping out is a bit of a mystery yet.

As per the official reports, the main setback may lie with the Chinese government. According to the New York Times, Apple’s newest iPhone allegedly has not yet received the needed government approval from the China. In particular, China’s Ministry for Industry and Information Technology must give the thumbs up for such devices as smart phones, but there is no approval for the iPhone 6 showed on the ministry’s website as of Wednesday, the Times noted.

Undoubtedly, China turns out to be an ever more profitable market, when it comes to mobile device makers as it provides hundreds of millions of potential customers. Later in 2011, China ranked 1st amongst US to become the world’s largest smartphone market. In fact, Apple has deals with all three of China’s major carriers including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telcom as long as a considerable source of sales. According to Bloomberg, Apple sold a record number of iPhone 5S units in China during last year’s fourth quarter, while the country in general accounted for 16% of Apple’s $37.4 billion in sales last quarter.

As compared to this year, last year, China was amid the list of countries that received the iPhone 5S and 5C for launch weekend. That’s why this year’s holdup surprises everyone out there. Just blaming the government for the lack of approval is not actually the case, but the move seemed to grasp Chinese Apple workers and mobile carriers off guard, the Times reported.

One source told the Times, the Apple’s stores in Beijing and Shanghai had previously been prepping iPhone 6 sales to start on September 19. One of the sales managers at China Telecom told the Times that “Apple completely let us down without prior notice.” That same manager quoted Apple representatives who allegedly tried to clarify the holdup by saying that “there are some details which are not ready.”

It has been predicted that China’s association with US technology companies can be unstable. Recently, in the month of July, a researcher claims the iPhone on state-run TV, calling the smartphone a national security risk that can gather data from its users, potentially revealing state secrets. In response, the Apple was forced by saying that it does not collect any such data.

JP Morgan analyst Rod Hall told the Times in an investors note released on Thursday, “report rings true given the Chinese government’s recent interest in controlling phone marketing costs/subsidies. No doubt, Apple did face tough time trying to hit a deal with China Mobile to carry the iPhone allegedly because the country’s largest carrier balked at the heavy subsidies demanded. Hall further told that he doesn’t believe the delay would not be extended but added that “nothing is certain with the Chinese government.”

From September 19th, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Singapore. Apple further planned to launch the latest iPhones among other 115 different countries by the end of this year.

The Most Rated Android Root Apps Of 2014

September 13, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

If you read Android news or discussion forums online, you are probably familiar with the term “rooting.” If not, keep reading.

On any Linux-based operating system, including Android, the root user is the most privileged user account on the machine and can run code that requires special administrator authorization. The root account is not normally accessible to the user. “Rooting” your Android is a procedure that allows your device to override this limitation and run code as the root user. Once rooted, you can install and use some apps that are not normally possible to use. There are thousands of root apps available, but here is a quick bonus list of my top 8:

Greenify: One flaw of Android compared to iOS is that background apps can seriously drain your battery even when you’re not using them. (iOS deals with background apps in a different way that prevents this issue.) Greenify allows you to freeze these apps and reclaim battery life. If you have a lot of apps installed, you’ll be amazed how much your battery life improves with Greenify.

Titanium Backup: Titanium Backup allows you to back up your apps and data to your SD card. This is useful because you can restore apps much faster from an SD card than from the Google Play Store, something that you need to do each time you install a new custom ROM while rooted. Titanium Backup has been around forever, has good developer support, and has my recommendation.

AdAway: Available from the F-Droid app repository, AdAway blocks all ads on your device. This includes ads on web pages and inside apps. It is an absolute must-have.

ROM Toolbox Pro: This app gives you several important root utilities, such as reboot to recovery and a build.prop editor. You’ll eventually want or need to do these things if you root, and ROM Toolbox Pro is a great way to do them.

BetterBatteryStats: This app has unparalleled power to help you figure out the source of unknown battery drain by reporting kernel wake locks and partial wake locks. It has a steep learning curve, but once you figure out how to use it (start by Googling), you will be glad you did. Of course, if you’re using Greenify, you should rarely need BetterBatteryStats.

WiFi Tether Router: In the past, many custom ROMs came with the TrevE WiFi package installed, but that app has not been updated in some time and does not work on many newer KitKat devices. WiFi Tether Router, available on the Google Play Store, allows you to tether your device’s cellular connection without counting against your hotspot plan. In fact, you can even tether without paying for a hotspot plan at all. Of course, you should be aware that this might violate the terms of your contract.

Tasker: Tasker is a unique and super-powerful app. It lets you program your Android to do complex tasks in the background without your intervention. For example, you can have your Android start playing music any time it connects to your car’s Bluetooth stereo, or disable the lock screen anytime you’re on your home Wi-Fi network. The learning curve is even steeper than that of BetterBatteryStats, but the time investment is well worth it. To speed up the process, use Google to find Tasker tutorials.

Xposed Framework: Many root apps come in the form of Xposed plugins rather than standalone apps. You will need the Xposed Framework installed to take advantage of these plugins. I suggest installing it immediately after rooting if your custom ROM does not already include it.
