Soon You'll Be Able to Buy Directly From YouTube Ads

In a tactic that will most likely increased YouTube’s revenue, the user will be able to buy, in the near future, directly from YouTube ads.

Earlier this week we heard some rumours about how Google wants to let users buy directly from in-search-engine ads, and this new tactic to increase profits from YouTube doesn’t shock us one bite.

If you think about it, YouTube has zero profits – it’s only revenue comes from pre-rolled advertisements, but that’s on Google’s back too. It’s quite mind boggling how they make money considering the fact that Ad Blocker is free, and the majority of internet users intstall it in their browsers.

If you are one of the few courages individuals that watch those 5 second, or more, agonizing ads that YouTube shoves down on our throats, I can only applaud you – and then laugh in your face.

I don’t think anyone has ever bought something from those pre-roll YouTube ads, so I went out and tested if you can impulse-buy something from them.

While trying to watch an Adventure Time sneak peak, an add for water guns rolled. Hmmm, nice touch, great algorithms, but then I tried to watch some gameplay footage from The Witcher 3, and an add about haemorrhoids popped – yikes, YouTube pairs gamers who are constantly sitting down with haemorrhoids. Actually , that isn’t a bad assumption, but still.

“Whether it’s watching a product review or learning how to bake a soufflé, we look to video in countless moments throughout the day to help us get things done. We call these micro-moments — when we reflexively turn to our devices to learn more, make a decision, or purchase a product.” Google says in a blog post.

I mean, sure, but, wait, what? No Google, when I learn how to bake a muffin, I don’t want to buy stuff from your pre-rolled ads, I just want to learn to make the damn thing. Stop making videos shoppable happen, it ain’t gonna’ happen – boy, I’ll eat my shoe if it does.
