Cells of tumor works differently in man and woman

August 4, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Lately, a study has proven that the protein, which decrease the risk of cancer is not as much active in man as in womanhood. This work is published in The Journal of Clinical Investigationand proved after several experiments performed on a cell model glioblastoma. In this experiment they expose both male and female brain cells to numerous gene variations. The outcome of this experiment comes out that the tumors develop more quickly and frequently in male brain cells as compared to the female cells.

For the verification of this experiment, researchers examine three genes neurofibromin, p53 and RB. These genes usually reduce the growth of tumor through curbing cell division. The examiners observed that in many cancer patients these genes were out of action or mutated.

According to senior author Joshua Rubin, later on these outcomes, doctors should begin the research on tumor again since no one has ever connected the sex factor in tumor. They normally analyze and treat both man and woman in a same way and this study will make them evaluate the reports of male and female differently. After this research several other questions arise in the minds of doctors for instance, whether there should be different treatments for man and woman who suffer from a tumor.

Previously scientist has discovered a number of diseases which have higher rates in man and lower rates in woman. Mostly these diseases are associated with hormonal changes.

Greg Foran named Walmart’s new President

July 26, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

WalMart has recently hired a new Chief executive office. Greg Foran, current CEO of Wal-Mart China will take the responsibilities in place of Bill Simon. Bill Simon was the in charge of Wal-Mart US for the past four years but soon he will be saying good-bye to the company.

Company has issued a note which stated the cause of the removal of Simon from his designation. They have mentioned that Simon was talented enough to replace, Mike Duke, former CEO, whereas, they have found a man who is even more brilliant in his work than Simon. The company has revealed the fact that they were planning to send off Simon since several months therefore, they were not astonished when this decision was officially approved.

Nevertheless, when the company was officially declaring change in management of US WalMart, it has also appreciated the services of the former CEO, Simon. They believed that Simon has redirected company’s concentration towards daily low cost and everyday low prices. He introduced some healthier food and gave its department a victorious make over.

On the other hand, company put th blame on Simon for the not so performing stores in the United States which can directly affect the company. Whereas, in the most recent interview of Simon,he states that chances of WalMart getting back to it’s previous position is almost next to impossible. No doubt, it will be quite a challenging task for Greg Foran to increase the sales growth of U.S WalMart stores.

Three new dry Exoplanets are discovered through NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope

July 26, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Astronomers through NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope were anticipating for any signs of water vapors in three planets but in vain.

These three planets are recognized as HD 189733b, HD 209458b, and WASP-12b, have an extremely high temperature because of which scientists were hopeful to discover few water vapors in their atmosphere. Scientists have recorded temperature of these planets which is almost 1,500 and 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit. These planets have only one-tenth amount of water as compare to the quantity expected by the researchers. Therefore, they are really shocked by this discovery.
According to, Nikku Madhusudhan of the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge, England, this result of experiments compel researchers to revise their models of the configuration of planets, particularly of hot Jupiter. These experiments provide an insight into how space telescope are supposed to be designed for the planets which are drier than the expectation of scientists. He also gave reasons behind the selection of these three planets. He said that they chose them since they are comparatively bright stars which offer enough radiation to take inside an infrared-light spectrum in it. This observation of transiting planet is out of question from ground since Earth has a large amount of water in it which disturbs their examination.

Vancouver Aquarium Debates Whether Or Not To Keep Dolphins, Whales

July 26, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

The Vancouver Aquarium park board is holding an unusual meeting today – a meeting which may take place over a number of days. The topic; whether or not they should be allowed keep dolphins and whales in captivity under the Vancouver Aquarium’s care.

Over one hundred and thirty people have registered to speak on the issue – some for keeping the whales and dolphins in captivity and some against it. The fact that there are so many people registered to speak – they’ll have three minutes each – is why the meeting may take place over a couple of days.

Aurora

Over the past while, the park board has been reviewing whether or not they should keep the animals, and, if they do keep the animals, if they should change regulations and practices relating to the care of them. The practice of keeping the animals at the Aquarium has drawn protests a number of times from people who are against keeping them, and demand an end to the practice.

Supporters for keeping the animals in the Aquarium have said that keeping them is an integral part of learning about both dolphins and whales, and that the majority of the ones kept in captivity were rescued, and some of them were injured before being taken in and healed.

The Aquarium is also of note for being the first sanctuary in the world that stopped capturing dolphins and whales – something which it did in 1996.

Many of the protestors have taken offense to the fact that many of the animals do tricks in front of the public for food, and a number of them have attended protests with signs that read “Captivity Kills”. They have also suggested that the dolphins and whales wish they were somewhere else, but supporters for the Aquarium have said that there is no such evidence to support that claim.
