iPhone 6 “Air” – What would compell me to buy the Next iPhone?

May 31, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

There are just some things that Apple needs to either add or fix that would even make me consider looking at the iPhone 6. The first thing I personally would want to see in the upcoming iPhone is a larger display with an updated resolution. The no.1 reason Android has pulled me back time and time again are the various display sizes.

I am constantly writing, taking notes and snapping photos and even though the iPhone has a good keyboard and camera didn’t jar me that much to stay with iOS. Android always gave me options on those areas so I stuck with them. Hopefully Apple fulfills the screen gap and adds various more sizes or at least 4.7-5 inches to reach a broader audience.

Another thing I would like to see coming to iOS is home screen widgets. Usually people would say if you wanted widgets then stay with android. Then that would usually end the conversation. But I honestly believe that Apple could potentially benefit from adding widgets to there upcoming iOS 8. Yes you could always jailbreak your device but once Apple finds out about the exploit used to make the jailbreak they usually patch it in the upcoming if not runner-up software update. So hopefully it’s implemented in iOS 9 if not 8.

The image no Apple fan wants to see.

The most dreadful thing that could happen to you in the middle of the workday is a dead battery. Usually you would just plug in the phone to the charger, but what if you don’t have a charger or your out making errands. You can’t always connect your phone to a charger and the external battery cases hat up and are quite bulky. There are fixes to this to elongate your battery life but why go through life hacks just to squeeze a little bit more juice out of your phone. At least a 2,000 mAH battery should treat the iPhone 6 nicely.

iSwipe-Keyboard-iOS7

Lastly the keyboard. Up above is a Cydia tweak called iSwipe which allows the user to swipe from letter to letter to make a word or fulfill sentences. It’s innovative, fast and quite accurate. I sincerely hope Apple adds this feature to iOS 8. There is nothing more annoying than when you have give a quickly reply to a text or email and you have to play woodpecker with your screen to get the message typed. That’s why Apple should implement this into the software or make something similar to iSwipe to the iPhone’s keyboard. It would relieve some headache’s from Apple’s iOS trend of “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”.

Those have been the top feature that I would like to see in the iPhone 6 “Air”. The new generation iPhone is expected to be announced at WWDC 2014 in September so we will find out then. But if you can’t wait the iPhone 5S and 5C are still available on Apple’s website.

Dead Whale stinks up Memorial Day at Califronia Beach [video]

May 26, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

About a week ago a reported 45-ton Fin Whale washes up onto a California beach near a waste water plant. The dead Fin Whale was about 57 feet long and weighs about 35-45 tons. The waste removal crew towed the 57 foot behemoth out to sea until the line hoisting the whale snapped 14 miles off the coast. The Waste Removal crew didn’t expect to see the same whale wash up again to a neighborhood beach stinking up this Memorial Day evening.

ABC_dead_whale1_ml_140526_16x9_608

They think that it is indeed the same whale as last weeks mishap but why do whales even wash up onto land. Soon they would have to do something with the whale because when an animal dies their body fills up with nitrogen, carbon and maybe methane. After a certain point the pressure has to be released. Either via some exit hole or the passing of gas. But when an animal of this magnitude dies the gas is on a higher scale and with gravity keeping the mouth closed the gas can not be properly released. So the whale usually ends up exploding.

Usually dead whales wash up when they die and their carcass somehow gets caught in an ocean current similar to what had happened to this particular whale. Other times the whale is caught in a storm and the storm surges will wash it on to land. They are usually rescued by concerned citizens who show up bucket of water to keep the marine mammal moist and then the fire department comes and hoists the whale back to sea.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3: The potential iPad killer

May 25, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Every year some new tablet comes out with killer specs, killer hardware or both. Yet none of them seem to actually “kill” the iPad. Why is that exactly? Well its because Apple does care about the spec race at all. They care more about what the crowd wants and how it ties in with there current plans. Lets take the iPad 3rd generation for example. Released back in 2012. Everyone wanted an iPad yet no one wanted to pay for one with its large price tag. Meanwhile Google was holding hands with Asus and brought the Google Nexus 7 to light. It was the must have android tablet of the year with specs didn’t match the the price tag at all, and hardware to match the software. It was called the “iPad Killer” back then yet the iPad remains. Well that’s something Microsoft is here to fix.

The new pro pen is innovative yet elegant like a pen
The new Surface Pen is innovative yet elegant like the pen itself.

Microsoft’s next iteration of the Surface Pro lineup is stellar. It comes with a 12 inch diagonal IPS LCD display with a pixel count of 216 ppi. But the screen is not what keeps is so fantastic. It’s the new Intel chipset that is inside. The Surface Pro 3 comes packing the new Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 dual core chip clocked at 1.6GHz and 2.9 GHz in turbo mode. Now compare that to Apple’s dual core A7 chip clocked at 1.4 GHz. Even though Apple’s A7 chip is 64bit it honestly does not matter if the software does not take advantage of the architecture. To further the Surface Pro’s details it comes with an abundant 8GB of RAM compared to the iPad’s measly 1GB of RAM. With that kind of power you might call it a laptop in a tablet’s body. It also features a microSD card slot for memory expansion, USB 3.0 port, a Surface Pen or stylus, and a keyboard dock to transform it into a laptop computer. All of which Apple’s current model does not offer. Now enough the geeky internals, lets get to what the average Joe would want.

Weighing at 798 grams it is quite hefty in weight for a tablet compared to the . However when you consider the all the Microsoft packs in it you wouldn’t mind. The exterior of the Surface Pro 3 is made of magnesium compared to Apple’s iPad Air aluminum, making it no cheap plastic Samsung hardware and very durable. The magnesium feels great in the hand and cool to the touch in the morning when you pick it up and it doesn’t over heat when doing anything graphic intense unlike the iPad which overheats while watching a movie or charging overnight. The last thing I should mention is the price tag. Now on release it does cost a whopping $800, and the dock costs an extra $130 compared to Apple’s $500 for there latest and greatest. That may sound outlandishly expensive but when you consider all the pro’s and cons of the Surface Pro 3, you would say that it is truly worth the money. The surface pro 3 is currently for preorder at microsoft.com/surface for $799 and the Apple iPad Air is for sale for $499 at apple.com/ipad

Lumia 1530 Review

May 18, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Last year Nokia has started a broad range of phablet named Lumia 1520 and this time they upgraded the previous one and made a new lumia 1530.

It is regarded as an excellent substitution of Nokia Lumia 1520. It is designed by Sheikh Imaduddin who presented one of the most famous I phones, I phone 6. It has a 6” phablet with 1080 p Ips display. It has 3 GB of RAM, 32GB of storage 20Mp camera on the rear of it prepared with OIS.

Like all the other phablets it is dust and water proof which would not let you worry about the minor problems related to usual phones. Its appearance and format is more like the Lumia1520 apart from the different spacing of Windows phone tiles. It has top and bottom covering, which is a bit unusual for Nokia Lumia series, of luxurious black colour along with a line of red colour. As far as its cost is concerned it is certainly heavy on the pockets of the customers.

May 17, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

People with overweight have to bear many things in life. It starts from making fun of people and ends on health issue. Commonly, carrying a few extra pounds is considered as big health risk. A number of studies have revealed the dangers of heart problems are mostly connected with fat people as they are likely to experience some severe heart diseases.

This study makes everyone wonder that even if a person is not that fat would he be on the risk of cardiovascular ailment. A few years back again a report was revealed that the heart diseases can be the reason of death for the people who suffers from extreme obesity.

The most up-to-date research gave a new turn to all the above issues; it shows that instead of a danger obesity comes out as a guard as it saves you from adverse cardiovascular problems. The first was controlled by New York researchers which verify that people with low body mass are more on risk of heart attack comparatively to the people who are fat.

The obsess patients have 27% lesser risk than ordinary people who have 22% risk of mortality. The researchers clarify those medicines which obese people generally take as a preventive for heart disease could be another cause of it. More experiments are still in progression to get a clear picture on this matter.

Bee Losses Declines Over Winter

May 17, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

In USA it is observed that during 201314, fewer bee colonies were lost than the average of previous years but still the population is dying and the level is not sustainable yet.

Tom Vilsack, agricultural secretary, said in the release that, “Healthy pollinator populations are critical to the continued economic well-being of agricultural producers. While we’re glad to see improvement this year, losses are still too high, and there is still much more work to be done to stabilize bee populations.”

BEES

Bees played a crucial role in agriculture by compliment the pollination process and the destroying of bees is alarming for the economy as a whole.

Over the years beekeepers reported a 30 percent loss of total be population during winters and the reason is still not known. The failure of bee populations around the country in recent years has led to warnings of a crisis in foods grown with the help of pollination.

Now this year 2013-14 the rate declines to 23.2 percent, it is a healthy sign but for a sustainable economy still a lot to do for the improvements. The major responsibility is on R&D.

BEES2The destruction is not only in US but honey bees’ population is destroying worldwide due to some unknown strange reason. Whatever we do, we must not let the bees’ population destroy.

May 16, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

May 16, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Welcome to the world the new LG G3. This just may have been, besides the HTC One M8, the most leaked smartphone of 2014. We have seen almost every angle of this device. know every spec and now we know that it’s legit. lgg34

These photos go hand and hand with the promo videos LG released last week and now we know that the back is indeed plastic. The will house a 5.5 inch diagonal Quad HD display with a record holding 538 ppi, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, Adreno 330, microSD card slot, 13MP rear facing camera with OIS+, and 3GB of RAM keep the train going without hiccups. The camera will also be updated with slight hardware and software modifications. As well as the 3000 mAH battery that is also user replaceable. Rumor has it that it will also include wireless charging as well. Will you buy the LG G3 when it is released on May 27th, 2014?

Burning Southern California Is Visible From The Space

May 16, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

South California is burning and the horrifying smoke is visible from the space through high-tech cameras. A series of penetrating fire continue to burn in Southern California and the NASA’s Aqua spacecraft captured the satellite imagery of the blazes and their giant plumes of smoke.

Springs-Fire-May-3-Natural-Color

The Earth-watching craft is ready with a high power camera and the instrument called MODIS — acronym for “Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer. After every one to two days MODIS helps capture a full image of Earth’s surface.

Started this Wednesday and have continued to multiply and spread the fires raging throughout San Diego driven by strong winds, dry conditions and temperatures of above 100 degrees.

San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob said in an interview that “As a native San Diegan, I have never seen the Santa Ana winds — also called ‘the devil winds’ — in the month of May,”

Probably, what afraid you more is a ground-level video taken a fire tornado bouncing forth from one of the glows a rare incidence when large fires meet dangerous wind instability.
