Eager to View the Super Moon? Note these Dates

July 12, 2014 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

The calendar for five expected super moons has been declared at the start of the New Year. The very first super moon of the year sighted on the 1st day of January 2014. After which the next expected dates of the year were declared to be January 30, July 12, August 10 and September 9.

So the question is what is a super moon? A Super moon occurs when the moon is so close to the earth that it becomes parallel to the full moon. From layman’s eye there might not be a major difference but once the moon and earth becomes parallel the size of the moon increases making it brighter and bigger in size. It was previously named as Perigee which literally meant closer to the earth.

According to the statement of Dr. James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA’s Goddard space flight center, “the moon gets bigger in size but there is only a few percent difference in distance at the time of occurrence.” This is termed as full moon because of its alignment with earth, the super in super moons is all about its size.

According to the calculated statistics, the size of the moon gets larger by 14% and 30% brighter to the eyes. On an average the super moon occurs 5 to 6 times a year and this year the super moon which will be closest to earth will occur on 10th August.

The occurrence of these super moons are tabooed to bring natural calamities and disasters such as higher tides and tidal shocks.

According to the dates, today i.e. 12th of July, people can also experience the full moon with good weather conditions, it can be viewed clearly so grab your cameras and look up in the sky for the beautiful super moon.

Yes! All Dinosaurs Had Feathers – Says Siberian

June 25, 2014 By Michael Turner Leave a Comment

Previously, reports have shown that avian dinosaurs have feathers since they are from the breed of modern birds. The new turn in this research is that, all dinosaurs had feathers and this news is definitely confirmed through the fossils of dinosaurs found in Siberia known as ornithiscians

download

This discovery of fossilized features have changed the understanding of researchers regarding when and from where feathers grown. In Siberia, some researchers found out that these dinosaur was plant eaters.

These verdicts show that dinosaurs had feathers which they used for the purpose attracting mates and insulation. However, these functions are unverified. They lived approximately 175 and 145 million years ago in Siberia in the Jurassic era.

Pascal Godefroit, the study leader of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, said that no doubt they had feathers but still they do not have a single characteristic common between birds and these dinosaurs. Furthermore, he described their appearance and stated that those dinosaurs were almost 5 feet in length with long legs and short arms.

According to Godefroit, this development in research of dinosaurs proved that not merely birds contain feathers but in early ages dinosaurs also have had them.

Bungie Justify Why Destiny Doesn’t Support Cross-Gen Play

June 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Whether you play games on Xbox 360, XBOX one or destiny in order to include players you have do it through same system. The most interesting question is why systems plays with each other cannot for instance, why a person on Xbox one is unable to play with the other person on Xbox 360.

Destiny-Beta1-635×423

People often mislead it that it is not technically possible whereas the truth is that Bungie, an American video game developer, want to keep the playing field level. Bungie engineer, Roger Wolfson, gave reasons through hypothetical players that if a player has two pixels on his own screen and the other has four pixels on mine then my opponent has benefits of it. Mostly people have awareness that improved hardware can give you advantages therefore we don’t wish to begin a battle of this thing as well. Consequently, the greatest factor is to leave all the gaming in unconnected. If we allow owners of Xbox 360 and PC version then it will certainly give rise to thousand other issues. The prominent problem was of controller in opposition to keyboard and mouse. He cleared the fact that many features of game will stay unchanged like loading, action game and action packed- no matter what the platform is.

Astrophysicists are amazed by new tricky discoveries and knowledge galactic motion. Recently, they have found out that galaxies move around other galaxy since they have a sense of beat which they always follow. This discovery is extremely different from the previous ones that were based on the movement of galaxy.

It states that galaxy move in a disc like motion around the galaxies which are comparatively bigger than them. According to the researchers, this movement begins in 2013 when they find out that several galaxies were encircling the Andromeda galaxy. Through this research scientist examine the characteristics of galaxies and concluded that dancing galaxies have the differing velocity from the one around which they rotate. This end result left astrophysicist in a perplexed state because whenever they observe the rotation of galaxy they found that they move in a consistent and organized motion.

An Australian astrophysicist, Lewis, said that this discovery completely deny the previous theories regarding association of galaxies with each other. He and his fellows who are still working on this research have named these galaxies as “Dancing dwarf galaxy”. Moreover, they analyzed the configuration of the galaxies which are similar in 50 percent of galaxies they inspected yet

Scientists – Sensors Network Help To Study Active Volcano

June 18, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

Geophysicists are examining the North American active volcano through electrical sensors. Scientist has stated that sensor system help them comprehend the procedure which carry magma from almost 50 miles under the surface to active volcano.Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier is the largest volcano which caused great destruction in May and left its material in11 states.

Because of these sensors scientists are able to presented detailed explanation on magma pipes beneath the Mount Rainer. That description states that dissolved magma shaped inside the Earth’s mantle and then it is collected in a pipe which transfers it to the volcano peak.

This analysis has solved several mysterious on which scientist were brooding on for more than a decade. For instance, how volcano substances goes upwards and how are they cut down into little pieces etc. after all the experiments and studies, scientist believed that Mount Rainier is more hazardous as compare to the Mount Jefferson.

iPhone 6 “Air” – What would compell me to buy the Next iPhone?

May 31, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

There are just some things that Apple needs to either add or fix that would even make me consider looking at the iPhone 6. The first thing I personally would want to see in the upcoming iPhone is a larger display with an updated resolution. The no.1 reason Android has pulled me back time and time again are the various display sizes.

I am constantly writing, taking notes and snapping photos and even though the iPhone has a good keyboard and camera didn’t jar me that much to stay with iOS. Android always gave me options on those areas so I stuck with them. Hopefully Apple fulfills the screen gap and adds various more sizes or at least 4.7-5 inches to reach a broader audience.

Another thing I would like to see coming to iOS is home screen widgets. Usually people would say if you wanted widgets then stay with android. Then that would usually end the conversation. But I honestly believe that Apple could potentially benefit from adding widgets to there upcoming iOS 8. Yes you could always jailbreak your device but once Apple finds out about the exploit used to make the jailbreak they usually patch it in the upcoming if not runner-up software update. So hopefully it’s implemented in iOS 9 if not 8.

The image no Apple fan wants to see.

The most dreadful thing that could happen to you in the middle of the workday is a dead battery. Usually you would just plug in the phone to the charger, but what if you don’t have a charger or your out making errands. You can’t always connect your phone to a charger and the external battery cases hat up and are quite bulky. There are fixes to this to elongate your battery life but why go through life hacks just to squeeze a little bit more juice out of your phone. At least a 2,000 mAH battery should treat the iPhone 6 nicely.

iSwipe-Keyboard-iOS7

Lastly the keyboard. Up above is a Cydia tweak called iSwipe which allows the user to swipe from letter to letter to make a word or fulfill sentences. It’s innovative, fast and quite accurate. I sincerely hope Apple adds this feature to iOS 8. There is nothing more annoying than when you have give a quickly reply to a text or email and you have to play woodpecker with your screen to get the message typed. That’s why Apple should implement this into the software or make something similar to iSwipe to the iPhone’s keyboard. It would relieve some headache’s from Apple’s iOS trend of “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”.

Those have been the top feature that I would like to see in the iPhone 6 “Air”. The new generation iPhone is expected to be announced at WWDC 2014 in September so we will find out then. But if you can’t wait the iPhone 5S and 5C are still available on Apple’s website.

Dinosaur Extinction Due to Colossal Bad Luck

May 28, 2014 By Deborah Campbell Leave a Comment

The extinction of dinosaurs has been founded to be mainly due to colossal bad luck as Stephen Brusatte states. Brussate is an evolutionary biologist and a verterbrate paleontologist from the University of Edinburgh. He led the international team in is study about the extinction of dinosaurs and the asteroid hit as published in Biological Reviews’ latest issue.

As stated from his interview with the Discovery news, he said that the asteroid almost did it, wiping dinosaurs but it happened on a bad time when the dinosaurs’ ecosystem weakened due to diversity loss. He further said that the dinosaurs would have survived if the asteroid hits million years earlier than its actual timing, then the extinction would have not happened.

It was noted that years before the asteroid hit the Earth has been undergoing extreme changes in sea level and temperature, huge volcanic eruptions and many other interconnected changes. Mountain formation and other tectonic events even led to the large seaway disappearance that covered much of North America’s interior during the Cretaceous.

These changes led to the extinction of the plant-eating dinosaurs that leaves the ecosystem imbalanced. When this asteroid hit the Yucatan Peninsula 66 years ago, it hit a paradise-like static world where dinosaurs live and caused them to become extinct in nature as what Stephen Brusatte states further.

Richard Butler from the University of Birmingham’s School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, even reminds that many bird species have become extinct about 66 million years ago. So, Butler and Brussate both agrees that if no asteroid impact and other environmental changes have happened, dinosaurs would still survive up to the present time. Yet they have also pointed out that humans won’t be here on earth if dinosaurs have not perished or came into extinction.

Dead Whale stinks up Memorial Day at Califronia Beach [video]

May 26, 2014 By Nancy Young Leave a Comment

About a week ago a reported 45-ton Fin Whale washes up onto a California beach near a waste water plant. The dead Fin Whale was about 57 feet long and weighs about 35-45 tons. The waste removal crew towed the 57 foot behemoth out to sea until the line hoisting the whale snapped 14 miles off the coast. The Waste Removal crew didn’t expect to see the same whale wash up again to a neighborhood beach stinking up this Memorial Day evening.

ABC_dead_whale1_ml_140526_16x9_608

They think that it is indeed the same whale as last weeks mishap but why do whales even wash up onto land. Soon they would have to do something with the whale because when an animal dies their body fills up with nitrogen, carbon and maybe methane. After a certain point the pressure has to be released. Either via some exit hole or the passing of gas. But when an animal of this magnitude dies the gas is on a higher scale and with gravity keeping the mouth closed the gas can not be properly released. So the whale usually ends up exploding.

Usually dead whales wash up when they die and their carcass somehow gets caught in an ocean current similar to what had happened to this particular whale. Other times the whale is caught in a storm and the storm surges will wash it on to land. They are usually rescued by concerned citizens who show up bucket of water to keep the marine mammal moist and then the fire department comes and hoists the whale back to sea.
