15 Killed Due To Stampede In Football Stadium, Congo

During a layoff match between ASV Club and the Tout Puissant Mazembe on Sunday evening, 11th May 2014, fans got angry and harass the policemen, who in turn fire the tear gas in the stadium, the statement is given by the Minister of the Congo city.

The unforeseen captured by the various new channels, due to the tear gas stampede began in the stadium. The tear gas arises from the public sitting area. People suffered from the effect of tear gas and blindly ran here and there in the stadium and during this situation of stampede 15 people are declared dead officially and according to unofficial resource the number of causalities reached up to 18.

The main reason of causalities is suffocation created by the stampede in football stadium.

Mostly supporters were running blindly in the ground and falling from the stairs and the whole view of this tragic moment is captured by the eyes of cameras and broadcasted on TV channels.

Andre Kimbuta – Kinshasa governor said he established an inquiry committee “to identify those responsible” and once the committee submit its official report we could further comment on it.
