In-Depth Review of the Dell Venue 8 7000 Tablet

March 24, 2015 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

dell venue 8 7000

Tablet sales have been slowly dropping all over the world and not just in Samsung’s and Apple’s back yard. Still, once in a while there comes a tablet that has some real potential of becoming a hit with the masses. One of those tablets is the new Dell Venue 8 7000. What makes the new tablet from Dell more interesting than the others is its interesting design, great camera and some other great specs and features.

Dell has been putting out Android and Windows tablets for quite a while now, but nothing really did stand out, which is why the Dell Venue is such a pleasant surprise. The new Dell Venue 8 7000 has the potential to do just that, stand out and put Dell on the tablet market.

Dell Venue 8 7000 Review

The Dell Venue 8 7000 was announced in October of last year and it became available in July of 2015. Before we start the review, let’s just swiftly present the new tablet from Dell, the Dell Venue 8 7000.

It is a $399 Android tablet with an incredibly sleek design (just 0.23 inches thick), a great OLED display, good battery life and an Intel RealSense 3D camera setup that delivers good pictures. The tech specs of the new Dell Venue 8 7000 even won a Best of CES Award, so it has all the markings of a great tablet are here. But is the new flagship tablet from Dell really a great tablet? Let’s see!

Design

One of the most impressive things about the Dell Venue 8 7000 is the fact that right now, it is the thinnest tablet available on the market. That’s right, the Dell Venue 8 7000 is even thinner than Apple’s iPad Air 2.

The Dell Venue 8 7000 has an incredible sleek design with barely any bezels (except for the one at the bottom). To operate the RealSense camera, you need to flip the 8.4-inch device, so that you don’t obstruct any of its three rear cameras or its speakers.

Having tested the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet, we can safely say that it is a pleasure holding the device for longer periods of time. The grip is very comfortable and even if the device is very thin, it doesn’t feel like it is going to fall apart in your hands, while you’re using it.

Dell surprised a lot of people when they launched this tablet, and we admit that almost no people to whom we have showed it, guessed it came from Dell. The majority of them thought HTC, because it does look a tiny bit like an oversized HTC One. We, and so should Dell, took the HTC One resemblance as a compliment.

Dell Venue 8 7000 Technical Specifications

The new Dell Venue 8 7000 has some impressive stuff under its hood. It has a crisp 2,560 x 1,600, 8.4-inch display with a pixel density of 361 (Apple’s iPad Mini 3 has 326). What makes the display really impressive is the fact that it’s OLED, which gives great viewing angles and amazing colors.

The tablet is powered by a quad-core 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor with Intel HD Graphics. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded to a whopping 512GB through a microSD card. It’s also got multitouch, up to 10 fingers, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and microUSB v2.0.

The Dell Venue 8 7000 weighs 0.67 pounds, which makes it lighter than its Apple counterpart, the iPad Mini 3, which weighs 0.73 pounds. It has all the right ports, in all the right places and on its left side, the power button and the volume one.

What’s so Cool about the Camera?

We’ve kept mentioning the camera, but what is so cool about this RealSense camera on the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet? Well, it’s a camera like you’ve never seen before. While Dell calls it 3D, the term isn’t really accurate. Intel’s RealSense camera is more of a depth-sensing camera.

The camera on the back are actually three cameras: the main 8MP camera coupled with two stereoscopic 720p cameras on each side of the main one. This allows the tablet to collect several layers of depth information.

When you take a picture in the depth-sensing mode (you need to be in this mode, otherwise the picture will just be a normal photo), you’re actually taking more shots of the same thing: one photo has the focus in the background, another in the foreground and so on and so forth. Thanks to this depth-sensing mode, you’re able to do some fascinating things with your photos.

Use the Dell Gallery to adjust the focus in the photo after the photo has been taken. Because the photo is actually more photos mashed up into a single photo, you can add effects selectively (think about a child being in color and the background in black and white). It saves plenty of hours tinkering in Photoshop, that’s for sure!

You won’t always need to shoot your photos in depth-sensing mode, but it’s a great feature to have.

Battery Life

Battery life is actually a big selling point for the Dell Venue 8 7000. While Dell says the tablet is good for around 10 hours of battery life, we clocked it at around 12 hours of video playback which took us by surprise. We thought it would be below the 10 hours that Dell estimated, but it appears that Dell isn’t just being honest, they’re being pessimistic. We found that the Dell Venue is only outperformed in the battery field by the Sony Xperia Z3 tablet and the Apple iPad Mini 3, both having a battery life of around 14 hours of video playback. This means that the new Dell tablet is not going to leave you when the going gets tough, in terms of battery, naturally.

Operating System and Features

The Dell Venue 8 7000 is an Android tablet. Dell did the right thing by sticking to Android and more than that, not tinkering with the Android by adding their own spin to it. The Dell Venue 8 7000 comes preloaded with Android KitKat 4.4 and it has zero alterations to the operating system.

A Dell spokesperson revealed that in a month or so, the new Dell Venue 8 7000 is going to get upgraded to the latest Android OS, Lollipop, which was unveiled last year in June and made available in November of 2014. We think that Dell opted for KitKat because it was safe and reliable and the moment Lollipop gained Dell’s trust, it got introduced into the Venue 8 7000.

The Dell Venue 8 7000 comes with some apps pre-installed, which is something that not many people like. Rest assured, all those apps can be uninstalled. The tablet comes with The Weather Channel, MaxxAudio, McAfee Security, UnoFriends, Polaris Office, Ice Age Adventures, Skitch, Flixster, Evernote, Vine, Evernote and Dropbox (with a whopping 20GB of free storage for one year). That’s pretty much all the bloatware that’s present on the tablet!

The coolest feature of the Dell Venue 8 7000 is its Dell Gallery, that is set up to sync with your Picasa, Dropbox and Facebook account.

You can view all your photos by locations and dates taken and if you sync your Facebook to your tablet, then you’ve got a third gallery automatically tagging recurring faces and making separate albums for each person in your photos. Naturally, you can deactivate this feature and tag the photos yourself. The gallery is cool, easy to navigate and very intuitive.

One Configuration to Rule Them All

At this moment, Dell is offering its customers just one configuration for the Dell Venue 8 7000: the 16GB model that costs $399. This actually acts as a pro, instead of a con, because it gives its owners the ability to upgrade to as much GB as they want, without shelling out too much money. With the microSD card, you can upgrade to a whopping 512 GB, so it actually doesn’t make any sense for Dell to offers more configurations.

In terms of accessories, we recommend you buy a case (that costs around $40) that will help prop the Dell Venue 8 7000 up, so that you avoid covering the speakers and the screen.

Another pretty cool folio that you can buy for $90 actually adds a built-in Bluetooth keyboard, which is going to prove useful to those who use their tablets for writing mails and documents.

Dell Venue 8 7000’s Competition

Any tablet buyer will go through at least a couple of tablets before deciding on one, so this is why we believe that the taking a gander at what the competition has to offer isn’t just important, it’s mandatory!

So who is the Dell Venue 8 7000’s competition? The main competitor is Apple’s iPad Mini 3, of course. Both tablets are incredibly slim, with Dell being just a smidge thinner. T

hey’re both priced at $399 and have 16GB of internal storage, but the Dell has a crisper screen. When it comes to battery life, even though the Dell Venue 8 7000 is a beast, the iPad Mini 3 has a better battery life. But camera is where the Dell comes out a winner!

Another very similar tablet to the Dell Venue 8 7000 is the NVIDIA Shield Tablet and the Samsung Tab S. The NVIDIA is aimed at gamers and the Samsung, is an all-around decent tablet.

Samsung users (and they are quite a lot), will probably prefer the Samsung tablet, but if you love Android, you could try the Dell Venue 8 7000, just because the Galaxy Tab S is almost one year old and Samsung is getting ready for a refresh.

Final Thoughts

While the new Dell Venue 8 7000 isn’t what one would call a cheap tablet, it is one that is worth every penny. The thin and sleek design, paired up with the long battery life, great HD screen and flawless build quality make the Dell Venue 8 7000 one of the best Android tablets you can buy at the moment.

Intel’s RealSense 3D camera may look like a gimmick to some, but if you’re a photography fan, we are absolutely certain it is going to delight you. Cameras on tablets have always been very poorly received and we believe that the new Dell Venue 8 7000 is going to change that. It’s not just a point-and-shoot camera, which helps users feel like they’re actually involved in the whole picture-taking process.

Sure, it’s not a perfect tablet as the speaker and rear camera can often be blocked by fingers, but it’s just a drop in a vast ocean of coolness, with the Dell Venue 8 7000. Another thing that many users, including ourselves have noticed is that the Dell Venue 8 7000 can get pretty hot during use. Only time will tell if performance is affected by this.

In conclusion, the Dell Venue 8 7000 is an impressive slim and smart tablet that we believe is going to sell and captivate its users.

Finally, Verizon clients with an HTC (M8) in their pocket will have the opportunity of testing the new Android Lollipop 5.0 Update, simply by accessing their smart phone at

the touch of a finger and without any additional costs. With a delay of more than 90 days, HTC finally launches in collaboration with Verizon’s most recent smart phone an update that responds to Google’s operating programs.

Verizon’s has released the Lollipop update after its competitors, while AT&T subscribers with HTC One (M8) can wait for their upgrade, since they are still operating with Android KitKat 4.4.4.

Android Lollipop 5.0 update has already been sent to the company’s clients so they can receive the immediate facilities for its installation. The users who still do not have been informed about it, can observe the options of their cellular phone (simply by accessing Settings -> About -> Updates -> Check) and then individually downloading the update program from there.

Android Lollipop

The new Android Lollipop brings a series of exciting fresh modifications for a HTC One (M8). The update provides the Material Design, a facility offering an amazing animation and highly effective 3D display. The design and style were combined with Sense 6.0 UI and, in addition, there can also be found a 64-bit ABI support for a clearly improved runtime. Customers will receive their card-based notifications and the app modifying system. All these, along with home screen notifications and lock-screen, that shows the notification s with just one vertical swipe, displaying the Quick Notifications after the second run.

But, the improvements do not end here. Moreover, the clients will find new features that have been developed solely for the HTC One (M8). Customers will appreciate the improved 3-way calling options and a smooth synchronization for Google Settings and different tones in Call Settings. T-Mobile Will Ignore Bad Credit

January 24, 2015 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The huge U.S. mobile carrier announced a very daring move recently. John Legere said the company plans to launch a new program that will put a smartphone or other device in the hands of anyone, as long as they pay their bills on time, however. If you pay your bills on time and have been a long customer of T-Mobile, the company will no longer check your credit history when buying a new smartphone or tablet.

T-Mobile recently announced that it will no longer perform credit checks for people who wish to buy new smartphones. T-Mobile is the fourth largest nationwide mobile carrier in the United States and it can be considered the most daring move from the company. However, for you to be able to buy a new smartphone and for the company to ignore your bad credit, you must be loyal to the company and pay your bills on time.

T-Mobile announced its new plan to kill off credit checks for customers that deserve this recently, just some time after they revealed the new roll-over program for unused data called DataStash. The company calls this new strategy Smartphone Equality and it’s meant to make the lives of users who have stayed loyal to the company and paid all their bills on time lot more easier. T-Mobile claims in a blog post that numerous surveys show that at least 60 percent of all Americans do not have a credit score, so this is a pretty important step taken by the mobile carrier. AT&T, Verizon and Sprint translate bad credits into deposits; T-Mobile will soon ignore this fact.

Thanks to this new Smartphone Equality program from T-Mobile, anyone who has been loyal to the company and have paid their bills on time will be able to take advantage of the company’s best deals on iPhone and other smartphones they offer. The program isn’t just for newer models and can also be used to purchase older smartphones as well.

T-Mobile announced that all users, even those with bad credit, that are loyal and have a clean history of payments for at least a year will also be able to take advantage of the zero down fee and offers with zero interest for iPads, iPhones and other smartphones or tablets. T-Mobile won’t check for credit history if you qualify and they will save your credit score from damage.

John Legere, the CEO of T-Mobile described the bold move in his own blog as being an act of mercy towards people with bad credit. He also wrote that the payment history in the company is far more accurate in getting an idea about whether users will pay their bills or if they won’t. Legere said that by analyzing payment history, T-Mobile will learn a lot more than by using a credit check. That’s probably true; however, it doesn’t reflect the whole tale. T-Mobile actually grew their share of the market regarding smartphones and other tech devices by appealing to a different sort of customer.

All the ads from T-Mobile seem to portray young people fresh off the benches of collage. Usually, young people have made some mistakes with their credits already and they are pretty confused by it as they didn’t have any contact with credit history in the past. T-Mobile is attracting these people with their lack of credit checks and it solidifies the relationship with young smartphone buyers. As these people age, T-Mobile will still hang on to them as they are a lot more loyal than others who switch to T-Mobile from other mobile carriers.

It’s also worth mentioning that T-Mobile and its subsidiaries have made a lot of efforts to attract less rich smartphone users. This month, T-Mobile also revealed the new Simply Prepaid program that provides users with a good amount of data for a very low cost. People who benefit from this Simply Prepaid plan won’t receive the same extras as the users who opted for the post-paid plans but they are offered a decent smartphone at a low price which they can easily anticipate every month. Along all this, it is a good way to encourage people who have been using services from T-Mobile for a year to consider other plans from T-Mobile which include the greatest and latest smart devices.

The true test, however, will come after the implementation of the new program and will decide whether T-Mobile made a smart move or not. If the company is wrong about their decision to stop checking the credit history of its users and if this won’t lead to building a loyalty for the company among users this may end up being a bad thing for the mobile carrier and it may cost them a lot more than they claim they will get from people who paid their bills on time for at least a year.

Legere wishes to change the industry on a very high scale but for this to happen, other carriers will have to reveal similar programs to stop checking for credit history of customers and avoid analyzing their financial activities.

Legere’s personal blog doesn’t exactly say when the Smartphone Equality program will be put into place, however. We believe that T-Mobile plans to use the new program immediately. For the moment, T-Mobile is still offering $0 packages for the new iPhone and a lot more smartphones and devices.

The new initiative called Smartphone Equality announced by Legere seems to be a pretty great thing for people who use services provided by T-Mobile. With some luck, this will become a new trend and other companies will adapt to it. We’ve seen companies such as Verizon and AT&T change their views over the past years on upgrades, phone prices after these kinds of initiative made the news and after T-Mobile attracted new customers. This may prove to be a lot more problematic than it seems but it will help people who can’t afford new smartphones and tablets get connected with the rest of the world, as internet use has become more and more important these days. We aren’t exactly sure at this moment if T-Mobile will ignore bad credit or not so we won’t get our hopes up but kudos to T-Mobile for their great effort.

Ara Spiral 2 by Google: New Prototype

January 17, 2015 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Ara Spiral 2Project Ara, involving the modular phone by Google has captured everyone’s imagination, promising the possibility of customizing your own smartphone to users worldwide. Well, as far as the worldwide part goes, the new smartphone will currently be available only for people in Puerto Rico. However, the Ara Spiral 2 Prototype has been introduced to the public and it is fully functional.

This concept is not yet ready for coming out the market around the world but public tests will begin with this year’s summer. There are no dates or plans on when exactly the new Ara smartphone will hit the markets.

Why Puerto Rico?

The pilot program set in Puerto Rico is meant to offer the necessary data on how to better plan the international launch of the Ara smartphones and the region was not chosen randomly. Google claims that Puerto Rico is the perfect spot for the idea of a modular smartphone mainly because 75% of the internet traffic in Puerto Rico is done through smartphones but many phone users do not actually own a smartphone.

Ara will also be used as a marketing strategy to make more people choose smartphones rather than any other types of phones. Google has signed partnerships with local carriers in the Puerto Rico area, Open mobile and Claro being two of these carriers.

What is Spiral 2?

Ara Spiral 2

Spiral 2 is the fully functional prototype available now but it does not yet have the final hardware version. However, Spiral 2 is way better than the initial Spiral, the prototype having now no troubles in booting and it even has access to a 3G data connection. For the following prototype, Spiral 3, Google announced that they are working on developing a 4G LTE data support.

A modular phone is basically a customizable smartphone with interchanging modules. Google has announced that these modules will consist of the phone screen, speakers, batteries, photo sensors, motion sensors and many more. The ground breaking idea behind this concept is the fact that Google will eventually give users the option to customize their phone to their own needs.

Are you more focused on the camera quality on your smartphone rather than the speaker? Simply choose a bigger camera module with a smaller or no speaker module. This goes on for every function the phone will eventually be capable of.

The head of Project Ara, Paul Eremenko was asked  during a developer conference on Wednesday, if the “endo” which is basically the skeleton of the smartphone where all the modules slide in, is going to be available in different sizes but said that they are trying to keep everything consistent. Ara also raised some questions about security during the above mentions conference but Eremenko said that a set of security guidelines has not yet been released.

What about the price?

Google has yet to release a price for their smartphone. Although they have constantly announced that the smarphone will be available on the lowest price possible, we have yet to see if that is indeed true.

Depending on third party manufacturers and the price of every piece, a price for each and every module is also expected. Of course, the overall price of the smartphone will vary depending on what modules you actually want on your phone, if Google will keep their word on giving us the possibility of choosing what modules you actually want your smartphone to have, before purchasing it.

Ara Spiral 2

Another part of the project which has not yet been worked out is if we are going to be able to switch or swap between different modules. All of this information will most likely be available after the Puerto Rican launch of the Ara smartphone and after analysts will put together all the data they have gathered before and after the release.

Adding and removing modules will supposedly be fairly easy if you know how to do it. Magnets will be used to keep all the modules in place and for you to be able to disengage one of the modules, you will have an app available exactly for that. You will also be able to choose what colors or design you want your modules to be in, making it more aesthetically pleasing.

As Paul Eremenko declared,

“The question was basically, could we do for hardware what Android and other platforms have done for software? Which means lower the barrier to entry to such a degree that you could have tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of developers as opposed to just five or six big manufacturers that could participate in the hardware space.”

Ara Spiral 2

Although there are is no certainty behind it, Google seems to hurry up the launch of the Ara smartphones, considering the modular smartphones an innovation prone to change the way mobile technology is currently going. There are eleven working modules available for the Spiral 2 smartphone and Google plans to make over thirty modules available by the time they will release the Ara smartphone.

NASA and “Sesame Street” Muppets Collaborate to Educate Youth

November 26, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Sesame-Street-and-NASAs-Mission-Mars

A few popular characters of “Sesame Street” such as Elmo and cookie monster joined together with NASA to offer launch video of the Orion Spacecraft. The chief aim of the collaboration of NASA and puppets is to inform youth about the space exploration.

This effort to educate young children began from 24th of November. However, the program will end after a short time period of 10 days.

“Sesame Street” along with NASA will share theme based videos, comics and graphics. All these items would be related to the Orion Space. For instance, in one of the videos a Muppet character communicates with NASA’s Orion Space Craft. It is certainly an innovative method to spread information regarding the future Journey of Mars.

The “Sesame Street” tried its level best to create a hype of this program. The non-profit cartoon company utilized all of its social media platforms for this purpose. Lately, people read a statement on the twitter account of Sesame Street which shows the countdown of NASA’s Orion Launch

Moreover, Sesame Street posted a picture of Elmo with a spacecraft and wrote that he is pretty familiar with the idea of rocket launches.  Previously, the little red Muppet visited Kennedy Space Center to view the launch of final space shuttle mission.

President Obama suggest a time period for Mission to Mars. According to that time period, the government space agency will launch the Orion spacecraft to Mars in 2030. Therefore, it seems like “Sesame Street” focused on kids who might be the participant of that journey in the future.

Experts Discovers a Neurological Sign of Alzheimer

November 25, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Alzheimer-disease1-1024x699

Every Alzheimer research offers a new significant piece of information to the scientists. Unfortunately, .these revelation give rise to other questions which makes the disease more mysterious.

Hugh Perry, a medical professor of the Medical Research Council stated that previously people believed that schizophrenia is connected to the same part of the brain. The disease is also called “pre-mature dementia”. However, the researchers failed to prove the concept with evidences. Hence, there are chances that both the disease belong to separate parts of brain.

The researchers of Medical Research Council examined the brain scans of nearly 484 people. The majority of these people were between the ages of 8-85. The chief aim of the study is to analyze the development stages of brain. The study displays a specific pattern of nerve cells which transforms as a person grow older. Later on, the researchers matched up the similar pattern with the Alzheimer’s patients. Surprisingly, the two diseases affected different regions of brains.

Dr. Michael Bloomfield stated that schizophrenia is an extremely destructive ailment. However, it is pretty early to state that that two disease have a deep relation.

Moreover, Perry informed that the study give birth to numerous questions regarding the influence of environment and genetics on human brains. These discoveries and findings will certainly help the people who suffers from these frustrating diseases.

FDA announces new boxed labels to be added to devices used to grind up uterine fibroid growths

November 25, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

FDA announces

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday announced that new “boxed warning” labels will be added to devices called laparoscopic power morcellators, which are used to grind up uterine fibroid growths.

The warning labels follow a recommendation issued in July by an FDA advisory panel that stated there’s no way to guarantee surgical morcellation wouldn’t increase the risk of spreading cancer to other parts of a woman’s body.

The new warning will let surgeons and patients know that “uterine tissue may contain unsuspected cancer [and] the use of laparoscopic power morcellators during fibroid surgery may spread cancer and decrease the long-term survival of patients,” the FDA said in a news release.

Two other warnings will state that the morcellators should not be used in patients who are in or around menopause or in most patients who would need to undergo hysterectomy due to fibroids. The morcellators are also not to be used “in gynecologic surgery in which the tissue to be morcellated is known or suspected to be cancerous,” the FDA added.

“The FDA’s primary concern is the safety and well-being of patients, and taking these steps will help the agency’s safety recommendations to be implemented as quickly as possible,” Dr. William Maisel, deputy director for science and chief scientist at the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health, said in the agency’s news release.

“Updating the device label with a boxed warning and contraindications will provide clinicians and patients with critical information about the risk of spreading cancerous tissue when these procedures are performed,” he added.

In April, the FDA stopped short of banning the power morcellation devices from the market, but the agency is urging physicians and patients to weigh the risks involved with the devices prior to their use.

Women who already have undergone power morcellation don’t need to undergo a cancer screening, because some of the tissue removed during the procedure would have been sent for pathologic analysis, Maisel said. If cancer had been detected, they would have been informed, he added.

Cancer Treatment: Stem cells, a New Approach in Cancer Therapy

October 26, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The conventional modern day cancer therapy rests on chemotherapy and radiation, both of which causes massive damage to normal cells and left the patient severely weakened and perilously clinging to life. Worse the above mentioned treatments caused a number of side effects and often patients succumbed to the side effects of cancer therapy than the disease itself. How nice it will be if a method which is safe and acts only on the cancerous cells is perfected. Thankfully this is going to be possible in the coming days. A method which has been tried in mice successfully is now ready for human trials.

Harvard Stem Cell Institute scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital have developed a new method to use stem cells in the fight against brain cancer. A research team led by neuroscientist Khalid Shah, MS, PhD, who recently verified the use of stem cells laced with cancer-killing herpes viruses, now has a perfected a method to genetically engineer stem cells so that they can produce and secrete tumor-killing toxins.

B0007209 Lung cancer cell

Shah’s and his research team demonstrated how the toxin-secreting stem cells can be used to kill cancer cells remaining in mouse brains after their main tumor has been removed. The details have been published in the AlphaMed Press journal STEM CELLS.

It is a completely new approach to cancer treatment. Special stem cells which were cropped in laboratory were able to destroy cancer cells without affecting the normal cells. The method was perfected in a laboratory where the laboratory stem cells were surrounded in a gel and the gel was placed on the brain that had previously been occupied by the tumor. The cancerous cells around the spot were quickly killed by the toxins released by the stem cells.

The method could be replicated in humans and the chances of its success are very high. Scientists agree that the toxins produced by the stem cells are very potent and can kill the cancerous cells. Such an approach has been used in the treatment of blood cancer and the same method is being used in the treatment of solid cancerous tumors for the first time.

The use of stem cells to fight cancer is a new concept and will lead to better prognosis and patient compliance.

iOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 6 Plus: Installation, Performance, Apps, Battery Life, Bugs & Issues

September 30, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Apple releases two new updates of iOS 8 shortly after the launch of iPhone 6 Plus. The iOS 8.0.1 update came with lots of major issues due to which Apple instantly offered an iOS 8.0.2 update.  Apple resolved all the problems related to the connectivity of iOS 8.0.1 through iOS 8.0.2.

iOS 8.0.2 is an extremely minor update, but it comes with some really significant feature. Earlier, the company removed the feature that lets apps to connect with the new Health app. However, Apple restored this feature in iOS 8.0.2 so that users can keep an eye on their fitness and health.

Moreover, the company solved and altered the issues associated with the third party keyboards. Some of the features of iOS 8 are pretty evident in the video.

Undoubtedly, iOS 8.0.2 update is relatively small if compared to iOS 8 but still it is certainly a significant bug fixer. The release of iOS 8.0.1 proved that even small updates can create major problems in devices.

People are now really skeptical about the installation of iOS 8.0.2 to their devices since iOS 8.0.1 really gave them a tough time. They are waiting for the reviews of iOS 8.0.2 in order to avoid getting into more trouble.

On the whole, the iOS 8.0.2 update seems pretty satisfactory but still it is not devoid of faults.

Installation:

An extremely positive thing is that iOS 8.0.2 consumes only 20 minutes of your precious time for installation.

Performance:

There are five chief sections that users should check shortly the installation of any major update. As I have mentioned above even iOS 8.0.2 has some fault. Therefore, people would definitely look forward towards the release of another update. Following are some noteworthy things of iOS 8.0.2.

Apps:

Even this update is unable to fix the problems of apps that are completely inactive. However, iOS 8.0.2 is gradually supporting the apps of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus but in a very low speed.

In general, the majority of the apps run quite well, such as Tweetbot, Alien Blue, NetFlix, Instagram and Spotify. Nevertheless, few apps are still facing some problems when you use them.

Some people reported that some of the apps take a lot of time to act. Therefore, if you have planned to install iOS 8.0.2 then get ready to deal with app crashes in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Battery Life:

Apple has offered a remarkable battery in iPhone 6 Plus. It is chiefly because of the large size of the phone.

Luckily, iOS 8.0.2 do not have any negative impact on the battery life of iPhone 6 Plus. At first, you might feel that it is using comparatively more battery than the previous update. Consequently, keep an eye on the amount of apps you use daily in order to evaluate the battery life of iOS 8.0.2.

Connectivity:

iOS 8.0.1 was surely a terrible experience for the owners of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The update bought a connectivity issue that made the devices useless. People were not allowed to make calls even if they were located in a well connected area.

Fortunately, iOS 8.0.2 fixed all these issues associated with the service of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Do not blame iOS 8.0.2 if you come across something strange while using hotspot. It happens surely due to some OS X Yosemite public beta instead of iOS 8.0.2.

Although there is not any major issue related to the Wi-Fi. Nevertheless, your device might complain about network delay whenever you refresh an app.

Bugs and Issues:

iOS 8 would not resolve each and every issue of iOS 8 but still it is better than iOS 8.0.1. Some users complain that iPhone 6 Plus hang in landscape or portrait mode when they use an app. Every time they have to close the entire app to get rid of this issue.

It looks like camera of iOS 8.0.2 is unable to distinguish between the landscape and portrait mode. It might take your photo in portrait mode even when you hold your camera in landscape mode.

Speed:

iOS 8.0.2 works great when it comes to speed. iOS 8.0.2 will run with a perfect speed on iPhone 6 Plus. It will give a real feeling of using the latest device of Apple.

Whether You Should Install iOS 8.0.2 or not?

It is recommended to install iOS 8.0.2 since it fixes tons of bugs created by iOS 8.0.1.  Your iPhone 6 Plus will work really better when you get rid of all those issues such as predictive keyboard, Health Kit and much more.

Apple is planning to release Apple Pay for its users till the end of October. Thus, you can also directly upgrade your device to iOS 8.0.3 which will probably release soon.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Defeated by iPhone 6 In Pre-Order Sales War

September 30, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Apple claimed that it sold nearly 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units in the initial three days of the release. These 10 million units generated revenue of almost $7 billion in merely the first three days. The two new devices iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus certainly marked a new record in the history of Apple.

The Samsung, the South Korean company also sells a large number of Android phones. However, even products of Samsung such as Salmon Galaxy Note 4 never produced such a huge profit for the company. Last year, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 took 60 days in order to sell 10 million units worldwide. Whereas, Samsung Galaxy S5 took 27 days to trade 10 million units globally.

Therefore, it is doubtful that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 would make revenue equivalent to iPhone 6 in a short period of time of three days.

On the other hand, Android lovers are criticizing Apple for copying larger display size of Android Phones. But Apple still got an extremely incredible response from the customers on the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Consumers really liked the alluring features and display of iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6 gives a tough competition to Samsung Galaxy S5, due to its screen size.

Apple sold 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus like hot cakes. The countries that predominantly contributed in this large sale are the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom. However, the company did not announce the individual figure of sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Thus, Apple will probably sell further 10 million units till the second shipping of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The company is planning to release the next consignment on the 26th of September. In the next shipment Apple will ensure that both the two products would reach 20 different countries of the world.

Apple has not put up iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for sale in China since it needs to pass through the last authoritative circle.

The demand of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is certainly very high. People are really sleeping outside the stores just to get hold of this new device. Moreover, some stores have increased the price of iPhone 6 and customers are gladly paying extra money for the product.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple stated that the sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went beyond their expectations. Hence, they are really obliged to their customers for making iPhone 6 the best ever launch of Apple. Furthermore, the CEO appreciated the efforts of their team and said that they controlled the manufacturing pretty well. The company is striving hard to fulfill the order as soon as possible.
