Iceland Aviation on Red Alert after New Volcano Eruption

August 31, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Iceland on Friday issued red alert after lava fountains were found dancing along an extended volcanic fissure near the Bardarbunga volcano system on Sunday.

The small eruption prompted the authorities to raise the aviation warning to the highest level, signaling closure of the surrounding airspace.

Making an statement in this regard, the National Crisis Coordination Center said, “The Icelandic Met Office has raised the aviation color code over the eruption site to red and the Icelandic Air Traffic Control has closed down the air space from the earth up to 18,000 feet.”

On a five-color scale, red is considered to the maximum alert level. It suggests that an eruption is impending and have a risk of ash.

The authorities also confirmed that no sign of ash were found following the small eruption that could have potential to affect the air travel in Europe.

“No volcanic ash has been detected with the radar system at the moment. Seismic eruption tremor is low indicating effusive eruption without significant explosive activity,” the National Crisis Coordination Center said.

The meteorological agency of the country said that the authorities are doing close monitoring over the eruption in the Holuhraun lava field, which is located about five kilometers north of the Dyngjujoekull glacier which covers part of Bardarbunga system.

According to the Reykjavik’s Meteorological Office, a small eruption began in a lava field just after midnight local time. The experts said that an ash cloud is at highest risk during a sub-glacial eruption.

According to the met department, the fissure eruption on Sunday was more powerful than the one occurred on Friday. But the experts stressed that the condition is not worrisome as it is unlikely to result into the aviation chaos that occurred following the 2010 Eyjafjallajokull volcanic eruption.

In April 2010, an eruption at the Eyjafjallajokull volcano led to the cancellation of more than 100,000 flights due to the official closure of Europe’s air space, wreaking havoc on millions of travelers.

Sources: Yellowstone Supervolcano Eruption Not Catastrophic

August 31, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Yellow Stone national Park is currently in news as volcanic calderas & super volcano are located here. The caldera & the most of the park are located in the northwest corner of Wyoming. This region has already experienced 3 eruptions and those were around 2.1 million years, one at 3.1 million years & recent one was 64,000 years ago.

As per the studies & research though there will be super volcanic flare up , at least meter of ash would wrap Rocky mountain range & it can also touch cities on the both coasts of US it may hamper the air travel also  . According to the further research there has been seen relative consistence at yellow stone. Park officials don’t expect this eruption anytime in next 1,000 years and also park is well equipped with monitoring systems & there would be plenty of warning would be set weeks or even months before this eruption would take place.

United states Geological survey are in use of newly developed 3- dimensional modeling program called as Ash3D,  states that though there is a explosion in yellow states that fallout would be huge difference in the fall out then what was expected earlier. The eruption makes its own winds that can overcome the prevailing westerlies that normally dominate weather patterns in United States.

The chances of a volcanic eruption are very low in this given year for sure but still all required measures and frequently checks are being done by the US Geological survey & also continue studies are done on the thickness & distribution of ash deposits if yellow stone erupts

The distribution of ash has a different pattern than smaller eruptions creating an umbrella cloud that can push ash more than a thousand km upwind Yellowstone hasn’t erupted for 70,000 years, so it’s going to take some impressive earthquakes and ground uplift to get things started. And which will be definitely monitored before hand with all there equipments placed in the park .  In Case of emergency experts recommend keeping extra supplies on hand and creating a family emergency communication plan. Beyond that, there is no reason to specifically prepare for an eruptive event at Yellowstone, which remains very unlikely.

Diaspora Disabled ISIS Accounts

August 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Members of Islamic State militants begin to use a new social networking website named Diaspora. Following the prohibition of the most popular social media service generally known as Twitter.

The Diaspora is a bit difficult site in terms of  check and control.

Disabled-ISIS-AccountsAs remarked by a blog spot on Diaspora that members of the Islamic State have created accounts on diaspora in order to promote the activities of their groups. Previously they utilized the services of Twitter and other platforms, but nowadays they have shifted to a free and open source software..

Unlike several other social networking websites Diaspora has no inner server. The entire network is grounded on numerous small servers which are accountable to control the content on respective sites.  People can freely use this service since the website is an open-source initiative. Even the management team of this site is unable to remove any unethical content from the “pod”

That signifies that the administration is merely running the site, but it cannot apply any pressure on the users. According to a statement of that blog post the management considers it to be the chief reason due to which IS activist chose this network.

Moreover, team  of Diaspora highlighted that it does not want to see IS content on its servers. In this way the team gave an indirect message to the IS individuals to remove its content immediately. They also accepted the fact that due to the open source nature, they cannot compel the activist to do this.

Brazilians into new zone of Banana wars

August 16, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Renowned juice maker firm Cutrale and investment firm Safra Group say they have proposed a tender to take possession of the US based Chiquita Brands International in a $6.10m cash deal that rivals the Irish tropical fruit company Fyffes.

Cutrale and Safra both based in Brazil, Cutrale a juice maker company and Safra a global Banking and a real estate group with a strong hold in Brazil said they were paying $13 a share in hard cash to Chiquita shareholders, a 29% bonus to Chiquita’s closing price on Friday.

Chiquita is attempting to shut down its coalition with Fyffes, which was previously announced in March. The combined price cost of Chiquita and Fyffes is currently approximately $1 bn.

A shot up of more than 30% in shares of Chiquita was announced in response to the competing offer. New York Stock Exchange listed it at $13.30 at the closing of the day which exceeded the offer price $13, suspecting a conflict among its investors in bidding.

Reduced consumption of orange juice globally led Cutrale to expand its venture into other products and geographies like the grain trading in recent years.

The Curtales rising into fame and creating vast wealth is a bit conscious with its strong reputation it held. A recent fall down surfaces in media due to slashing down of the business after the major frost destroyed Florida’s citrus crop.

Safra held a strong roots in Brazil, while Safra’s niche has been in Banking but it didn’t confined into this instead expanded its wealth by investing into pulp and paper, telecommunications, cattle ranching and global real estate.

Both groups stated that their offer has been sent to Chiquita’s board of directors and pleaded to come up with some definite takeover agreement. They are looking forward to have some response from Chiquita on Friday.
