The New iPhone Launch Will Be Big for Apple and Not Just In Terms of Screen Size

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The fact that the new iPhone may have two version; one with a larger screen and the other with a 4.7 inch screen is perhaps in the vicinity of common knowledge now. The brand is obviously, unbelievably popular and rumors regarding it travel fast. However, the phone may not just be big in size, it is estimated to be quite big for Apple as well. Let me elaborate, according to the Wall Street Journal Apple has asked its suppliers to get them 70-80 million iPhone’s by the end of this year. If we’re really comparing from last year that should be a 60% increase in production from last year in which the production amounted to 50-60 million.

Moreover it is unlikely that Apple will make the same mistake of being too careful in manufacturing new iPhone’s. Since last year the demand for 5S surpassed expectations and there is definitely more anticipation when it comes to iPhone 6. Not only that, but this time the bigger screen version may allow Apple to truly take their competitors head on. The demand for bigger screen has been increasing and companies like Samsung and HTC have tapped into it, but Apple had remained true to their self imposed limitation on the size of the iPhone which – due to unforeseen demand patterns – they have thankfully decided to abandon.

It is no secret that Apple has not been able to reward the loyalty of the customers it has managed to retain and has not been very successful in attracting new users from Android, which is something Android phones have been doing to Apple for some time. However this time, things seem to be looking up for Apple and reports suggest that this will be the most successful launch in the history of the product. Other than that Apple’s Smartwatch is also coming up this year so we have a lot more to expect from Apple than just the iPhone.

Apple’s growth has been stunted for some time now, but it looks like things are looking up for them and the iPhone 6 may usher in a new era for the company.

Jews From America Want to Defend Israel; A Place They Call Their Homeland

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

In wake of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict many Jews around the world have volunteered to fight for Israel. Amongst these were two Americans who were recently killed in fighting in the Gaza Strip. Israel calls these soldiers, the lone soldiers as they have left their country and families, their entire lives behind to fight for the Israeli Defense Forces to defend the Jewish State.

One such lone soldier, was Max Steinberg. He was 24 and grew up in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley. He joined six months after he visited Israel for the first time on a birthright trip. He was among the 13 Israeli soldiers and many Palestinian soldiers who died during the first major ground battle between Israel and Hammas.
Nissim Sean Carmelli was another 21 year old, he was the second American killed.

He came from South Padre Island and felt a connection with Israel even though he had only moved there 4 years ago. The Jewish Journal says in a report that the lone soldiers are stars in Israel. It goes on saying that the army service is a right of passage. Also, young members of the Diaspora who give up their lives to protect Israel are given a hero’s welcome and a lifetime of Shabbat dinener invitations from their fellow soldiers.

Regardless of the remarkable passion of the young to serve and protect their people and country, this pointless conflict has claimed the lives of enough young people on both sides and nations worldwide, should contribute in coming up with a political solution to all this killing.

The National Park Service names the Albany’s Pine Bush a national landmark

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

The Albany Pine Bush has been designated as a national natural landmark because of being an outstanding example of a globally rare ecosystem by the National Park Service. The region along the Thruway west of Albany joins 596 other sites across the country recognized as landmarks and is home to pitch pines and scrub oaks.

It is perhaps not surprising then, that such regions are great examples of unique and fascinating biological and geological phenomenon. Most interestingly, the Pine Bush provides support to more than 1300 species of plants, 156 species of birds, more than 30 species of mammals and 20 species of amphibians and reptiles. It is thus one of the world’s best examples of inland pine barren ecosystems. It also harbors the beautiful but sadly endangered Karner blue butterfly.

Bungie Justify Why Destiny Doesn’t Support Cross-Gen Play

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Whether you play games on Xbox 360, XBOX one or destiny in order to include players you have do it through same system. The most interesting question is why systems plays with each other cannot for instance, why a person on Xbox one is unable to play with the other person on Xbox 360.

People often mislead it that it is not technically possible whereas the truth is that Bungie, an American video game developer, want to keep the playing field level. Bungie engineer, Roger Wolfson, gave reasons through hypothetical players that if a player has two pixels on his own screen and the other has four pixels on mine then my opponent has benefits of it. Mostly people have awareness that improved hardware can give you advantages therefore we don’t wish to begin a battle of this thing as well. Consequently, the greatest factor is to leave all the gaming in unconnected. If we allow owners of Xbox 360 and PC version then it will certainly give rise to thousand other issues. The prominent problem was of controller in opposition to keyboard and mouse. He cleared the fact that many features of game will stay unchanged like loading, action game and action packed- no matter what the platform is.

RBA Stevens on global quantitative easing

July 22, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Australian central band chief said on Tuesday, that the jury is out on whether exceptional monetary policies around the globe have contributed in stimulating activity in the real economy other than just encouraging risk taking behavior in financial markets.art-glennstevens-620x349

Governor Glenn Steven of the Research Bank of Australia emphasizes that quantitative easing has obviously contributed in lowering borrowing costs around the globe but its just not clear if this lead to a higher business investment. He continued by suggesting that some would take this to imply that the unconventional monetary policy has not been all that effective others would say that this was indicative of the fact that policy did not try hard enough. He said that it was difficult to draw a clear conclusion from the picture.

He pointed out that the slow recoveries in many major countries could just be a consequence to the loss in business confidence and that could not be changed by interest rates.

He explained that if people started believing that return – regardless of the past returns – would be low in the future, this would be a huge deterrent in investment. However he also elaborated that this pessimism couldn’t possibly last forever, in fact, steps should be taken to curtail its damage and convince investors otherwise. He regarded the growth agenda being pushed by the group of 20 nations (G20) to be helpful in restoring confidence. This involves supply side reforms, increased infrastructure investment, ensuring a safe financial sector and progress on free trade agreements.

AK Steel Announces Its Acquisition of Severstal Dearborn

July 21, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

AK steel revealed its agreement to acquire Severstal, North America’s integrated steel making assets in Dearborn, Michigan today. The acquisition will be for $700 million in cash. It also includes a coke making facility and interests in three joint ventures that process flat rolled steel products. AK Steel should benefit immensely from this acquisition considering the upgraded steel making equipment and facilities. Also, the Dearborn plant produces flat rolled steels with high quality for the construction, appliance and automotive market. Plus, the Dearborn facility is located close to many of AK Steel’s customers so perhaps cost synergies are to be expected.

severstal_dearbornThe acquisition will also ensure that employees at Dearborn and AK Steel are combined which will increase the overall strength of the company. The highly modernized equipment at Dearborn will aid AK Steel in securing much greater productivity, efficiency and operational flexibility. Dearborn’s blast furnace, rebuilt in 2007 is one of the best blast furnaces in the world for its size!

Plus the company anticipates cost synergies up to $50 million with around $25 million in the first year of the acquisition. Also, upon completion of the acquisition AK Steel’s annual shipments are expected to have a substantial increase; around 7.5 million tons. The company also advises readers to be wary, saying that such forward looking statements which include words like “estimates” and “expects” could be potentially misleading as the result could actually be significantly different from those currently expected by the management. However the acquisition turns out to be, from the face of it things look good for AK Steel.

Slight increase in gas prices in Ohio

July 21, 2014 By Cristopher Hall Leave a Comment

Gas prices in Ohio have increased slightly to start the work week but have managed to remain lower than the national average.

Gas_Prices_Up

The average price of a gallon of regular gas was $3.49 in Monday’s survey. Now that’s two more cents than last week however it is also $28 cents lower than last month.

The national average on Monday was $3.57, that’s 4 cents lower than last week and its also 10 cents lower than the price last year at this time.

There has been some speculation among the analysts who say that the price of crude oil increased as a result of the anxiety about the Middle East. It must be noted though, that the possibility of disruption in supplies was minute.
