iOS 8 Release for iPhone: 9 Things to Expect

September 16, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

The iOS 8 offers free of cost software upgrade to all the iPhone users. The iOS update brings some really new appealing iPhone features that are easily accessible for iPhone owners.

Apple has already installed iOS in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Therefore, people who intend to purchase a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus should not worry about this new upgraded software. However, the owners of previous models of iPhone can install iOS 8 two days ahead of the release of iPhone 6.

Apple has confirmed 17th of September as the release date of iPhone iOS 8. The preview will give you some insight about next Wednesday.

The owner of iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s  and iPhone 6 can update the latest version of iOS 8. The company will release an iOS 8 iPad and iPod touch update on the same day.

The iOS 8 release date is just two days ways and following are the things that people can look forward in it.

iOS Release time and Details:

Apple has not announced any specific release time for iOS 8 release. However, people can rely on 1PM/ Eastern / 10 AM pacific for the release date of iOS 8. Every year Apple begins the new iOS updates at this time and it is doubtful that they will change it this year.

All the carrier will let people download the iOS 8 update on the similar day unlike Android updates. Android updates usually come with a delay for both carriers and countries.

iOS 8 Installation problems:

The iOS 8 release date is the worst time to update the new version of iOS. You can not work on your iPhone until the entire installation of iOS 8 update is finished. You have to deal with some serious issues, even if by mistake you run something on your iPhone. People usually complain about the restoration if anything goes wrong in the middle of the installation.

Generally, the servers of Apple fail to facilitate millions of users  in the beginning hours of the release of iOS 8.

People who are currently possessing an 8 GB iPhone 4s or iPhone 5c or a 16 GB iPhone 5  are required to empty up their storage before the installation of the update. People for whom it is nearly impossible to delete even a single file or apps from their phone will need to plug-in to their computer in order to install the update of iOS 8 on the iPhone.

Clean iOS 8 Install is Best:

The installation of new versions of iOS would not ask you to clear your data, apps and accounts. The data  would remain on your iPhone. However, if you face any problem then you will definitely have to carry out a clean iOS 8 installation.

A clean iOS 8 installation eradicates all the issues which might be a factor of bad iOS 8 battery life.

The first thing you should do is back up your iPhone data, then connect to iTunes and select the option of the  restore.

Restores can also be done through your iPhone backup, but it would not be a complete clean of iOS 8.

iOS 8 Battery Life Problems:

Mostly people will complain about a bad iOS 8 battery life shortly after the release date of iOS 8. This issue can arise from installation issues, apps consuming large amount of battery and other problems. The company never purposely reduces the life of your battery, but it occurs.

If you come in contact with any battery related issues after the iOS 8 update, then reset your settings. In settings, check the new iOS battery usage option. If it would not repair your problem, then perform a complete restore to iOS and begin from scratch.

iOS 8 App Updates & Issues

Developers tested the new iOS beta quite a few months to ensure but still there are chances that people can face some problems

Problems that you might handle which are not updated for iOS are:

  1. iOS 8 Keyboard with predictive text covering buttons.
  2. Share Options not working in all app.
  3. App crashes on iOS 8.

People can expect most of the updates of iOS 8 apps to turn up this week.

iOS 8 Performance Complaints:

One of the few problems of iOS 8 is related to performance. The new software updates usually lessen the speed of the old devices. This time iPhone 4s is the oldest that will get an iOS 8 update.

In the beginning of 2014 Apple introduced an improved iPhone performance on iOS 7. Therefore, it is expected that Apple will release same sort of iOS 8.1 for the iPhone 4s.

iOS 8 Bug Fix in October Possible:

Apple has announced that there will be an iOS 8 update in October which will add the feature of  Apple pay to iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the company will release an update for other iPhones or not.

Generally, Apple release fix bug updates soon after the release of any new software.

Missing feature of iOS 8:

The iOS 8 would not offer all the features to the user of iPhone 4s.  Apple required to do this in order to provide better performance in some older devices. The iPhone 4s iOS 8 update would not include the feature of Continuity. This feature let users to answer calls on a Mac or iPad and text message. Moreover, iPhone 4s would not be compatible with the new Apple Watch.

Pick A Good Time to Install iOS 8

It is recommended to install iOS update after a few days of its release. This way you can avoid several problems and save your time.

iPhone 6 and the China’s Launch Weekend Mystery

September 13, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Considered as the hottest news of this September might be the launch of iPhone 6 in several major countries. Though, China won’t be amongst them. However, the basis for its keeping out is a bit of a mystery yet.

As per the official reports, the main setback may lie with the Chinese government. According to the New York Times, Apple’s newest iPhone allegedly has not yet received the needed government approval from the China. In particular, China’s Ministry for Industry and Information Technology must give the thumbs up for such devices as smart phones, but there is no approval for the iPhone 6 showed on the ministry’s website as of Wednesday, the Times noted.

Undoubtedly, China turns out to be an ever more profitable market, when it comes to mobile device makers as it provides hundreds of millions of potential customers. Later in 2011, China ranked 1st amongst US to become the world’s largest smartphone market. In fact, Apple has deals with all three of China’s major carriers including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telcom as long as a considerable source of sales. According to Bloomberg, Apple sold a record number of iPhone 5S units in China during last year’s fourth quarter, while the country in general accounted for 16% of Apple’s $37.4 billion in sales last quarter.

As compared to this year, last year, China was amid the list of countries that received the iPhone 5S and 5C for launch weekend. That’s why this year’s holdup surprises everyone out there. Just blaming the government for the lack of approval is not actually the case, but the move seemed to grasp Chinese Apple workers and mobile carriers off guard, the Times reported.

One source told the Times, the Apple’s stores in Beijing and Shanghai had previously been prepping iPhone 6 sales to start on September 19. One of the sales managers at China Telecom told the Times that “Apple completely let us down without prior notice.” That same manager quoted Apple representatives who allegedly tried to clarify the holdup by saying that “there are some details which are not ready.”

It has been predicted that China’s association with US technology companies can be unstable. Recently, in the month of July, a researcher claims the iPhone on state-run TV, calling the smartphone a national security risk that can gather data from its users, potentially revealing state secrets. In response, the Apple was forced by saying that it does not collect any such data.

JP Morgan analyst Rod Hall told the Times in an investors note released on Thursday, “report rings true given the Chinese government’s recent interest in controlling phone marketing costs/subsidies. No doubt, Apple did face tough time trying to hit a deal with China Mobile to carry the iPhone allegedly because the country’s largest carrier balked at the heavy subsidies demanded. Hall further told that he doesn’t believe the delay would not be extended but added that “nothing is certain with the Chinese government.”

From September 19th, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Singapore. Apple further planned to launch the latest iPhones among other 115 different countries by the end of this year.

The Most Rated Android Root Apps Of 2014

September 13, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

If you read Android news or discussion forums online, you are probably familiar with the term “rooting.” If not, keep reading.

On any Linux-based operating system, including Android, the root user is the most privileged user account on the machine and can run code that requires special administrator authorization. The root account is not normally accessible to the user. “Rooting” your Android is a procedure that allows your device to override this limitation and run code as the root user. Once rooted, you can install and use some apps that are not normally possible to use. There are thousands of root apps available, but here is a quick bonus list of my top 8:

Greenify: One flaw of Android compared to iOS is that background apps can seriously drain your battery even when you’re not using them. (iOS deals with background apps in a different way that prevents this issue.) Greenify allows you to freeze these apps and reclaim battery life. If you have a lot of apps installed, you’ll be amazed how much your battery life improves with Greenify.

Titanium Backup: Titanium Backup allows you to back up your apps and data to your SD card. This is useful because you can restore apps much faster from an SD card than from the Google Play Store, something that you need to do each time you install a new custom ROM while rooted. Titanium Backup has been around forever, has good developer support, and has my recommendation.

AdAway: Available from the F-Droid app repository, AdAway blocks all ads on your device. This includes ads on web pages and inside apps. It is an absolute must-have.

ROM Toolbox Pro: This app gives you several important root utilities, such as reboot to recovery and a build.prop editor. You’ll eventually want or need to do these things if you root, and ROM Toolbox Pro is a great way to do them.

BetterBatteryStats: This app has unparalleled power to help you figure out the source of unknown battery drain by reporting kernel wake locks and partial wake locks. It has a steep learning curve, but once you figure out how to use it (start by Googling), you will be glad you did. Of course, if you’re using Greenify, you should rarely need BetterBatteryStats.

WiFi Tether Router: In the past, many custom ROMs came with the TrevE WiFi package installed, but that app has not been updated in some time and does not work on many newer KitKat devices. WiFi Tether Router, available on the Google Play Store, allows you to tether your device’s cellular connection without counting against your hotspot plan. In fact, you can even tether without paying for a hotspot plan at all. Of course, you should be aware that this might violate the terms of your contract.

Tasker: Tasker is a unique and super-powerful app. It lets you program your Android to do complex tasks in the background without your intervention. For example, you can have your Android start playing music any time it connects to your car’s Bluetooth stereo, or disable the lock screen anytime you’re on your home Wi-Fi network. The learning curve is even steeper than that of BetterBatteryStats, but the time investment is well worth it. To speed up the process, use Google to find Tasker tutorials.

Xposed Framework: Many root apps come in the form of Xposed plugins rather than standalone apps. You will need the Xposed Framework installed to take advantage of these plugins. I suggest installing it immediately after rooting if your custom ROM does not already include it.

iPhone 6 Pre-Order will Begin Today at 12:01AM

September 12, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

This is the best moment for all those people who want to get hold of iPhone 6 without standing in line.

Officially, Apple would not sale iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus till the 12th of September. The iPhone 6 pre-order begin at 12:01 AM pacific that is midnight for everyone. However, the alarm clocks of the shoppers of  Ohio and New York are all set to buzz on 3AM in order to purchase new iPhones.

Tonight is the perfect time for the all the iPhone lovers who wish to purchase this new device on the very first day.

Analysts are expecting iPhone 6 to be one of the most popular devices of Apple. If iPhone 6 fulfills this expectation of analysts then it is certainly the best time to order iPhone 6 otherwise you would be able to get it.

Previosu year, Apple nearly sold 9 million iPhones in the first week of the launch of iPhone 5. This time Apple has launched iPhone 6 in two different sizes, one with 4.7 inch and the other with 5.5 inch display screen.  Therefore, analysts are expecting iPhone 6 to generate much greater and faster revenue than the previous one.
No need to disturb your sleep if you can wake up and walk to the retail stores next day for the purpose of getting new iPhone 6. Nevertheless, if you are a person who wish to place a pre-order for iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus then this is the best time.

The things which you should bear in mind for a successful iPhone 6 pre-order are mentioned below:

The pre-order for both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will begin tonight.  The normal iPhone 6 will come at a cost of $199 or nearly $27 every month as per the recently upgraded plans. Whereas, iPhone 6 plus is available at a price of $299 for a two year contract or $37.50 per month.

There are all in all six places from where customers can pre-order the iPhone 6 .  The Apple store app is already included in these six places since it is the preferred place for most of the shoppers.

Apple offers a home deliver or in store pick up for the pre-order of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. Customers can easily order it on Apple.com.

The four big carriers Verizon, T-Mobile,  Sprint and AT&T also taking online pre-order of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. These pre-orders will start at:

  1. 12:01 AM Pacific
  2. 1:01 AM Mountain
  3. 2:01 AM Central

People who are interested to buy iPhone 6 through retail stores can search for stores such as Walmart, Radio Shack and Best buy.

There is a possibility that most of the pre-order websites will slow down. You also have to select the warranties and insurance plans so make sure that you know which one you want to have before starting the process.

Apple’s iOS 8.0.2 Software Update Released, Upgrade Available For iOS 8.0.1 Users

September 11, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

Today, Apple released iOS 8.0.2 update to resolve the issues of iOS 8.0.1. The update will certainly fix all the problems of iOS 8.0.1 and iOS 8.

Yesterday, the company launched foremost update iOS 8.0.1 in order to fix all the issues related to the installation of iOS 8. The update was revealed to resolve the bugs of iOS 8 brought several more bugs for the owners of iPad and iPhone.

People begin to complain about the issues few hours after the release of iOS 8.0.1. The majority of them were the owners of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.  The chief problem arises in the cellular data and Touch ID of the brand new iPhone. Shortly, after the release of iOS 8.0.1 the company rolled back the new update from its servers.

People were already mad because of the issues of iOS 8 and this iOS 8.0.1 update increased their infuriation. Users were assuming that now Apple will take almost a week or two for the launch iOS 8.0.2. Till then they have to deal with all the bugs.

Tonight, Apple introduced a new iOS 8.0.2 update for the users of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It was definitely a pleasant surprise for the owners of these devices since they were really annoyed with the bugs.

The good news is that iOS 8.0.2 update can fix the bugs of both iOS 8 and iOS 8.0.1. Apple offered this update for all the devices such as iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina Display, iPad mini, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPod touch fifth generation.

The things that are present in Apple most recent update are mentioned below:

  1. The update will fix the problem associated with the cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  2. It will settle the bug of Health Kit apps, so now users can easily download it from the App Store.
  3. Users can get rid of third party keyboards when they enter their pass code
  4. It will also fix the issue which stopped users’ access to the Photo Library.
  5. The Reachability feature is enhanced on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  6. Resolve the problem of unforeseen cellular data usage while receiving SMS/MMS messages.
  7. iOS 8 update was not allowing the retrieval of ringtones from iCloud backups. iOS 8.0.2 will remove this bug as well.
  8. Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
  9. It will enable the user to upload photos and videos from Safari.

It is surely a very significant update for the owners of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, users of iPad and other iPhones are still evaluating the performance of iOS 8.0.2.

Undoubtedly, iOS 8.0.2 update is pretty large since it consumes almost 80 MB. On the other hand, the update is quite small for the users of iPhone 5 as it only takes 14 MB storage.

It is recommended to back up all the important files on your device before the installation of iOS 8.0.2.

The iOS 8.0.2 probably stands on number two inter of bug fixers updates. Generally, Apple delivers numerous bug fix updates in a short time period of a year.

Few rumors suggested that Apple intends to release iOS 8.1 soon. However, Apple has not yet verified the launch of iOS 8.1.

The launch of iOS 8.0.2 arrives merely after a single day of the release of iOS 8.0.1.

Apple has revealed two new brand new models of iPhone 6 in September. Both the devices will certainly give a tough competition to the rivals like Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, LG G3 and Moto X.

Apple Pay Could Have Saved McCoy From Embarrassment

September 10, 2014 By Kenneth Scott Leave a Comment

The owner of a restaurant called out LeSean McCoy, an American footballer for leaving a tip of 20 cent.  The criticism of people is really upsetting for the two parties since someone has posted a receipt of that bill on a Facebook.

Apple has launched Apple pay which will certainly keep away its customers from this kind of situation in future.

Philadelphia Eagles  running back LeSean McCoy in the middle of a $45 million contract. The waiters of Philadelphia burger shop PYT were excited since sports hero LeSean McCoy came into their restaurant for Lunch. After lunch McCoy gave a tip of just 20 cents on the his and his friends’ lunch.

Afterwards, the owner planned to post a picture of the receipt on Facebook. Usually, restaurants are not allowed to post the credit card data of their customers online. This kind of act can lead to a large number of security and privacy issues.

Generally, credit card receipts shows the last four digits of customers’ credit cards. Banks and merchants make use of  the similar four digits as security challenges like online shopping carts, apps and balance.  The other minor issues could be informing the public which restaurants celebrities often visit.

It is not a big deal for an ordinary person to reveal which restaurants he visit frequently, but it definitely affects a celebrity like McCoy.

The major reason behind this matter is that LeSean McCoy is quite a wealthy celebrity who earns way more than a waiter could make in a decade. The restaurant owner rebuffed to apologize even when a large number of Football fans and numerous other owners contacted him.

Furthermore, the owner said defended his action by saying that LeSean McCoy and his friends abused his staff members.

Shortly, Apple’s new iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 5s will let user to pay their bill at retailers and restaurant through Apple Pay. Soon the clients will be able to tap their phones near NFC enabled terminals.  However, the personal data such as credit card numbers and names would not be transferred to the seller. Apple Pay could have surely saved McCoy fro  such an embarrassing situation and the owner would have told this incident to his friends on text.
