The iPhone 6 launch event will begin few hours from now. The iPhone 6 will not only come with lots of new features onboard but also it will introduce the new iOS 8 to the world. However, the launch date of iPhone 6 is not the iOS 8 release date.
The Apple iOS 8 was first announced during the WWDC 2014 event. Appearance-wise the iOS 8 resembles the iOS 7 but it is packed with plenty of new ‘features. So, you shouldn’t be expecting the iOS 8 to be looking dramatically different from the iOS 7.
Moreover, the iOS 8 will allow users of iOS 8 powered devices to seamless carry out tasks on other Mac PCs running on OS X Yosemite and other iDevices. The iPhone 6 will come preloaded with the new iOS 8. The owners of iDevices like iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPod Touch, iPad 2, iPad Air and iPad Mini can also upgraded their devices to iOS 8.
iOS 8 Developers Edition is Available
Those who wish to try the new iOS 8 can download the developer’s edition on their iDevices. The developer’s edition is not the final product. The official release of iOS 8 is all set to happen few hours from now. The final iOS 8 will be available as free download.
Expected iOS 8 Release Date
The iOS 8 release date is quite evident. Still, it could be easily guessed by studying the release patterns of previous iOS versions.
Apple never lets out the information on the iOS release date before its launch event. Even though the new iOS is revealed along with the new iPhone, the official release of the iOS happens a few days after the handset is revealed to the world. Also, when the new iPhone is announced, Apple also announces the older devices that are eligible to get the new iOS update.
Currently, iDevice users are able to use the fifth update of the iOS 8 beta version. Apple was supposed to release the sixth update edition to the developers but it is not known whether general users are able to access the download.
Also, the Gold Master edition of the iOS 8 is expected to arrive on September 9. Gold Master is the near-final version of the iOS 8. Since it has not arrived yet, it may happen so that the Gold Master edition would arrive after Apple launches the new iPhone 6.
The iPhone 6 is expected to hit the store shelves in the third week of September. The probable iPhone 6 release date is rumored to be September 19. The iOS 8 should get released a day or two before or after the iPhone 6 is released to the market.
Guessing iOS 8 Release Date through Previous OS Release Date Patterns
In the year 2011, the iOS 5 was released to the world. The Apple iPhone was announced in that year on October 4. The iOS 5 release date in 2011 was October 12. Two days later, the iPhone 4S was released on October 14.
In the year 2012, the iOS 6 was released. The iPhone 5 was announced on September 12. The iOS 6 release date was September 9 and the iPhone 5 arrived into the stands on September 21.
In the year 2013, the iOS 7 was released. Apple announced the iPhone 5S on September. The iOS 7 release date was September 18. The iPhone 5S arrived two days later on September 20.
What about this year? The iPhone 6 will be announced on September and speculated iPhone 6 release date is September 19. Hence, the probable iOS 8 can range from September 17 to September 21.
Like always, Apple is mum on the iOS 8 release date. However, we are quite sure that all the iOS 8 updates for all the eligible devices will be made available at the same time. Google has a habit of releasing Android updates separately for different smartphones. However, the iOS 8 update will arrive simultaneously for all the compatible iDevices.
iOS 8.0.1 Update
Even though the iOS 8 update has not arrived officially, there are speculations that Apple is currently working on update for the upcoming iOS 8. It is being referred to as iOS 8.0.1 update. It is also rumored that some of the developers are already testing the iOS 8.0.1 update.
Usually, Apple is known for releasing bug fixes soon after the arrival of its new iOS edition. Often it has happened that when new iPhone and iPad devices come with new version of iOS, users face certain problems because of the bugs present in the new iOS. Early bug fixes helps in encountering those issues so that users can enjoy the new iDevices without any software glitches.
Last year, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C came preloaded with the iOS 7. Soon after they arrived into the market, Apple rolled out the iOS 7.0.1 update for these iPhone models along with other iOS 7 compatible iDevices.
The iOS 8 release date is set to happen around the date iPhone 6 is made available for purchase. And within a couple of days, Apple may roll out the iOS 8.0.1 update within a few weeks of arrival of iPhone 6.
