Until Sept 9, for the entire we heard numerous speculations on the features, specifications and pricing of iPhone 6. Apple’s launch event on Sept 9 has revealed everything about the most awaited smartphone of the year, the iPhone 6.
On Sept 9, Apple announced the arrival of two new iPhone models. The first one is the 4.7inch sized iPhone 6 which will compete with the upper and mid-range phones like the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Moto X. The other one is the phablet edition called the iPhone 6 Plus that measures 5.5inch which has been built to take on the lies of LG G3, Sony Xperia Z3, HTC One M8 and the Galaxy Note 4.
Both the iPhone 6 models come with Retina HD display, stunning metallic design, powerful 64-bit A8 processors, improved iSight camera, iOS 8 and improved battery life. The 4.7inch iPhone 6 is a successor handset for the iPhone 5S.
What Happens to iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 4S?
With the arrival of iPhone 6, the older models like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are now available with reduced price tag. In terms of specifications and features, last year’s iPhone models are quite inferior to the newer iPhone 6 models.
In order to earn more revenue through the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has decided the price of iPhone 5S by $100. The iPhone 5S which came with a price tag of $199 at the beginning will be now available for buyers with a price point of $100.
The iPhone 5C had been available for $99 has also undergone a price cut. The 8GB edition of the iPhone 5C can be purchased for free. However, buyers will have to signup a two year contract to get the iPhone 5C for free.
Before the arrival of iPhone 6 models, Apple was offering the iPhone 4S for free on-contract. However, very soon it will be delisted from Apple Store and it won’t be available for purchase.
iPhone 6 Release Date of Sept 19 for Selected Countries
On the Sept 19 release date, the iPhone 6 won’t be launched all over the world at the same time. However, it is expected to arrive in the countries like Australia, Canada, France, Japan, and the UK on the said date. Previously too Apple has launched the iPhone models in these countries and later it is made available to the other countries.
Apple has not revealed any information on the iPhone 6 release date for other countries. It may take several weeks for the iPhone 6 to arrive in to other countries. The arrival of iPhone 6 in other countries also depends on how fast Apple manages to replenish its stocks.
When it comes to iPhone 6 Plus, buyers should be expecting more delays as it has been speculated that there will be shortage of phablet model. This means that the iPhone 6 Plus may arrive late in other countries.
iPhone 6 Release Date in the US and Pre-order Details
The iPhone 6 release date for US audience is Sept 19. The iPhone is the undisputed leading smartphone in the US. Apple has already revealed that through the iPhone 6 launch event that both the new handsets can be pre-ordered from Sept 12 in the US which is exactly one week before the iPhone 6 release date of Sept 19.
The iPhone 6 pre-orders are likely to begin at 12am on Sept 12. Apple has not confirmed on the exact timing for accepting pre-orders. Those who access the Apple Store retail page and order the new iPhone 6 will be able to take advantage of the free shipping service.
If you do not pre-order the iPhone 6, probably the only option left with you to purchase it would be to physically visit the Apple Store at 8am on Sept 19, the official release date of iPhone 6. Also, it won’t be easy to purchase the iPhone 6 on that day because of the long queues that people will build before 8am or as early as midnight.
iPhone 6 Carrier Details
AT&T
AT&T has not revealed any information on the pre-booking the iPhone 6. However, it is heavily rumored that iPhone 6 will be available for pre-order with AT&T on Sept 12. Also, AT&T has not updated the media whether their stores will open up early on that day.
Sprint
Like AT&T, even Sprint will be offering pre-bookings of the new iPhone 6 from Sept 12. It will start selling the iPhone 6 from Sept 19. Sprint is the only carrier among the leading carriers of the US that is offering unlimited data service for $50. Sprint is expected to offer the same deal like other service providers
T-Mobile
T-Mobile too will join the other leading service providers to offer the new iPhone 6 on pre-order from Sept 12. Even T-Mobile will start selling the iPhone 6 from the release date of Sept 19. It won’t be easy to find T-Mobile iPhone 6 at famous retail outlets like BestBuy and Target.
Verizon
The pre-booking of the new iPhone 6 with Verizon starts from Sept 12. Rumours have it that some of the Verizon stores have already started taking names of interested iPhone 6 buyers. Verizon too will join AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile by making the iPhone 6 available for purchase from Sept 19.
US Cellular
US Cellular often ranked as the fifth largest service provider in the US started selling the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C quite late in the previous year compared to other carriers. This time around, the US Cellular is poised to offer the iPhone 6 from Sept 19. However, US Cellular has not confirmed whether they will be allowing iPhone 6 pre-order from Sept 12. Again, there is a possibility that the carrier may begin iPhone 6 pre-orders like other carriers on Sept 12.
Other Carriers
The iPhone 6 is also expected to arrive on lesser known carriers of the US. One of the notable ones that is going to join major carriers for selling the iPhone 6 on Sept 19 is C Spire Wireless. However, there is no confirmation whether it allow pre-booking of iPhone 6 from Sept 12.
