Speculations on Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 release date are increasing day by day and at the same time rumors have it that the Google has put the Android Silver program on hold and its future is uncertain.
Usually, Google used to roll out Nexus devices that featured stock version of Android. In April, reports started doing rounds that search engine giant was working on something new called Android Silver program which would replace the Nexus line of products. The Android Silver was expected to feature premium smartphones that was expected to arrive at the beginning of 2015.
Android Silver’s Future Uncertain
Rumors of Android Silver became strong when reports about Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 7 being shelved started doing rounds. Sadly, Google never confirmed anything about the Android Silver program and there is no news whether Google will really work on such a program.
After the arrival of announcement of smartphones like the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Google is now rumored to be working on the launch of two Nexus products which clearly indicates that Google is not working on Android Silver. Vice-versa, since the Google Android Silver seems to be on hold or dead, new Nexus products are expected to release this year like it used to in the previous years.
Nexus 6 Smartphone and Nexus 9 Tablet Rumors Getting Stronger
Rumors about Google working two new Nexus products have grown steadily in the past months. Google is supposedly working on a Nexus smartphone as well as on a Nexus tablet.
Google Nexus 6 Smartphone
As far as the new Nexus smartphone is concerned, rumors are referring to the handset as Google Nexus 6. It is heavily speculated that the next Nexus handset will be a Motorola product and will not be manufactured by LG. The South Korean tech giant had manufactured the last two Nexus smartphones.
It is expected to feature a 5.2-inch quad HD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It is speculated to come housed with Android 4.5 or 5.0 L OS. It may be powered with a Snapdragon 801 processor which will offer a processing speed of 2.5GHz and 3GB RAM. The internal storage capacity of this Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone is going to be 32GB.
The Nexus 6 smartphone will feature an enhanced camera. It will also feature front facing speakers which Motorola has been offering on its recent handsets like the Moto X 2014 and Moto G 2014.
Google Nexus 9 Tablet
The Nexus tablet that is reportedly under the wraps with Google is speculated to be an 8.9-inch tablet. Google has launched two Google Nexus 7 tablets in the past. New rumors indicate that the next Nexus tablet will be an 8.9-inch product which may be rolled to the market as Nexus 8 or Nexus 9.
Instead of producing a Asus tablet like Google did for past two years, rumors point to the fact that the next Nexus tablet will be an HTC product. Google is also partnering with Nvidia for this upcoming tablet.
Nvidia is the company that has manufactured the processors that are present in the original Google Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 7 2013 edition. Through one of the legal documents of Nvidia, it was revealed that their new iteration of quad-core Tegra K1 built for mobile devices will power up the HTC Nexus 9 tablet which was supposed to arrive in the third quarter of 2014.
Since the HTC Nexus 9 tablet has not arrived till now, heavy rumors indicate that the new tablet would be aimed for the upcoming holiday season release. According to the rumors, the HTC Nexus 9 will adorn an aluminum body.
The 8.9-inch display of HTC Nexus 9 would support a display resolution of 2048 x 1440 pixels. It may feature speakers on the front side of the device along with 5MP camera. At the rear, it may sport an 8MP camera.
The HTC Nexus 9 tablet will be powered with the upcoming Android 4.5 or 5.0 OS which is speculated to get unraveled within this year. In the recent past, Android L rumors have become stronger as major Google apps are in the process of getting updated to sport the new design features.
The Android L release date has not been revealed officially by Google. Also, Google is still mum on Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone and 8.9-inch HTC Nexus 9 tablet. More details are expected to roll out in the coming days.
