The U.S Preventive Services Task Force declared that there is insufficient evidence to prove the advantageous of Vitamin D screening in routine practice. Hence, the group does not support annual screening of vitamin D any more.
Moreover, the U.S Preventive Service Task Force informed that the lack of evidence demonstrates that annual screening fails to lessen the risk of health diseases. Therefore, it cannot be considered wrong to state that there is no direct connection between Vitamin D and the health disease.
The group analyzed the data of 16 experiments along with one nested test case for this purpose. Later on, the researchers concluded that annual Vitamin D screening does not have an effect on the ratio of patients.
Moreover, the researchers notified that there are more than one method to test the amount of vitamin D in a body. Some of the available test are high performance liquid chromatography, immunoassay, and competitive protein binding, mass spectrometry. Unfortunately, every test provides a different result of a patient. It happens due to the absence of a standard method to test the level of Vitamin D in human body.
Four years ago, the U.S Institute of Medicine presented a report to which informed that vitamin D is merely necessary for the health of bones. However, its absence in bone does not lead to lethal diseases. Every individual should take 600 milligram of Vitamin D every year. Nevertheless, people who have crossed the age of 70 should take 800 milligram of Vitamin D daily.
The new statement puts a big question mark on the previous researchers. In last few years, experts emphasize a lot on the relation of vitamin D and other diseases. For instance, , a few years ago a report revealed that low level of Vitamin D can give birth to several diseases. Some of the major disease are colorectal cancer, depression, diabetes, heart disorders etc.
The researchers printed the report in an online Journal known as Annals of Internal Medicine. .
