Sales are declining, Samsung and Apple have taken the most of the cellphone market share. How to survive in the market? How to come back in the competition, with the record of past 3 years with reducing sales?? Create something new and diversify the operation. This is what HTC thought and now is rumored to be working on a 16 – Megapixel sports underwater camera. Not to forget the already established GoPro in this underwater business. HTC is entering a new market, with less competitors and thinking to expand its operations.
The ‘camera’ will be tube shaped, supporting both Android as well as iOS and can be connected through Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth. The camera is also expected to be suitable for rugged areas and featuring a strong solid body. With this camera HTC is forecasting to gain $244.6 million as revenue, giving GoPro serious and tough competition. HTC’s official latest attempt was the flagship smartphone M8, which offered more than one operating system. GoPro recently released 12 megapixel Hero3+’s however ended up making losses with revenue as little as $19.8 million. GoPro now decides to launch a new Hero4+’s featuring higher performance, better megapixels and much more. This increased competition might result in small companies entering this market and infiltrating it.
Any official announcement has not been made yet by HTC, but these details were given out by a person, who chose to stay anonymous. However HTC is expected to carry an event on Oct. 8 in which the camera will be released along with a new smartphone, suitable for taking selfies at the very same event, it is expected to take place somewhere in New York or California. For now we can only wait until an event takes place or any official announcements are made by HTC.
