A survey has been done by the University of Sussex which is printed in the journal Current Biology. It proved that horses can easily distinguish the facial expression as well as their ear and eye movements. This sense of horses helps them in saving themselves from the predators. People usually think that creatures who have eyes on the side of their faces can’t see what other animals are doing. This research has completely rejected this idea.
Previously, the researchers focused on the signals which a deaf human being observes in its surroundings. This time examiner monitors the horses and found out that even the ear position of another horse is also a very important sign for a horse. Moreover, they stated that for the horse’s head direction comes after the position of eye and ear.
In order to execute this experiment, the researchers arranged all life size pictures of horses to record the reaction of other behavioral horses. The result demonstrates that horses assist each other with their gaze in contemplation of food. When the researchers utilize a particular part of that animal, then the horses which were under observation could not find anything.
Several animals are able to rotate their ears almost 180 degrees and horses are one of them. According to BBC, before this research, human used a narrow perspective during the study of communication in horses therefore, they failed to spot these fundamental factors.
