September 24, 2014 By Roxanne Briean Leave a Comment

Apple lately added two factor authentications in order to increase the security of the customers’ iCloud account. It will let users to protect their backups of iPhone and iPads with something better than a password. Therefore, it is a suitable time to enable two factor authentication.

These measures have been taken after hackers attacked the celebrities account and leaked some of their personal photos. People begin to worry about their iCloud accounts shortly after this incident. Thus, Apple made an expansion in the security of the iCloud accounts through two-factor authentication.

We will tell you the entire procedure to enable it on your Apple iCloud account.

Two Factor Authentication:

Users should have some knowledge about the performance and working of this feature before updating it.

Two factor authentication is a comparatively latest method of securing several web accounts of users by means of more than a single password. It requires a normal password along with a confirmation code and will send it to users’ devices like smartphones or iPads. All the users who have enabled two factor authentication on their accounts want these two codes to get access to their iCloud accounts.

It is certainly a more safe and sound way to use iCloud since from now on the hacker will need various things to slip into your iCloud account. It would make a really difficult task for hackers to steal your precious data from iCloud.

Fortunately, the company has launched this two factor authentication for users’ iCloud account.

How to Set Up iCould Two-Factor Authentication:

Initially, you are required to log into your Apple ID account through applied.apple.com and then click onManage your Apple ID. You would be able to log in from there by using identification.

As soon as you are logged in click on Password and Security that is present on the left side of the sidebar. There you are required to answer a few security questions to get an entry in this section. These questions are the ones which users set when they sign up for an Apple ID.

After you give answers to all these security questions, you will view a page from where you can start the process of two factor authentication. The company named it “Two-Step Verification” as there are some other names for this feature as well.

The page will give you a short introduction about the working of two factor authentication when you click on Get Started. Users can then and there end up the process if he read something which they do not want to set on his iCloud account.

However, if you wish to carry on the process, then Click Continue.

Apple will ask you to give three days time for the set up of two factor authentication. It sounds really annoying, but it acts like a real road block for hackers.  Therefore, if you want to get benefit from this service then you have to wait till three days.

When these three days passed by then go back and follow the same process of Logging in and Get started.

The foremost thing is to add your phone number which can receive the verification SMS text messages.  It is not essential to give your personal iPhone number for this step. You can also enter the number of your close friend or any family member.

Afterwards, you will get a confirmation code on that number which you will have to enter on the website. After that the website will include your phone number in the list of customers.

It is pretty noteworthy that the iOS devices which have already Find My Phone app are permitted to be used as a trusted device with two factor authentication.

Then click Continue and from there you can verify every single iOS device you own. One more time, clickContinue togo to the next stage of the setup.

Subsequently, print out or write down the given Recovery Key. Then Apple will ask you to re-type it in order to confirm that you have copied it somewhere safely.

Click Confirm to enter into the next phase.

The final thing is to agree with the terms and condition of two factor authentication to get advantage from this service. Insert a mark on the box present at the side of condition and then click Enable two step verification.

Then the screen will inform you that you have successfully enabled the feature Click Done to complete the process.
